Mrs Rianat Aguntasoolo has appealed to a Grade ‘C’ customary court sitting at Agodi-Gate, Ibadan, Oyo State, to dissolve the eight year-old-marriage between her and her husband, Lukman Aguntasoolo on the grounds of irresponsibility.
Rianat, who lives at Amuloko, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, told the court that Lukman was not responsible and that she has laboured for him all her life.
“I tried all I could to help him build his house,” she said.
Rianat also told the court that she was living separately at the Muslim area of Ibadan,Oyo State before she married Lukman, but that trouble started immediately she moved into his house.
“there is always trouble in our home because we fight nearly everyday. He has abandoned me for his first wife.
“Lukman doesn’t cater for me and our children.
“The moment I challenged him for not performing his duties at home he began to accuse me of committing adultery.
“He would go as far as checking my belongings and spying on me all the time,” she said.
Rianat added that Lukman went to her shop one day and destroyed all her goods worth several thousands of naira.
Responding, Lukman refuted all the allegations, saying the children she had were not his.
He added that Rianat has been having extral marital affairs with an alfa who rented her an apartment before he met her.
He added that he married her after the man left her, but that their union was not legal.
“I later opened a shop for her. I thought Rianat was going to change from her old ways but she rather became worse..
“She would go out and come home late in the night.”
Lukman added that Rianat must have used diabolic means in marrying him as he found devilish materials (juju) in her wardrobe which he brought as evidence to the court.
He stated further that he had caught her with different men.
Lukman also claimed that Rianat got pregnant in the month of May as a result of an extra marital affairand aborted the pregnancy.
“Rianat is promiscuous, I don’t want her as my wife any longer,” he said
The court after listening to both parties declared that the problem between the couple was complicated, adding that DNA test would be needed to know who the father of the children is.
The court president, Chief Amusa Makinde, adjourned the case till August 27.
