He left us in Ibadan, married another woman in Lagos -Wife •‘I married another wife ‘cos she gave me money’

A Grade ‘C’ Customary Court sitting at Owode/Academy in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of Oyo State has dissolved the marriage between Mr.  Saheed Omotoso and his wife, Aminat, after the two parties decided to part ways.

Earlier, Aminat had instituted a divorce suit against her husband for abandoning her and the only child in the marriage.
The plaintiff told the court that the defendant married her six years ago, while the marriage was blessed with a child, who is five years old.
While explaining her ordeal, Aminat disclosed that her husband did not take good care of her and their only child.
He added that the defendant abandoned her and travelled to Lagos where he works about a year ago and did not return until recently.

“When he was in Lagos, he didn’t care about us. In fact, he did not call to ask about our welfare, just for once. It was later I learnt that he had got married to another woman and both of them are now living together. He has abandoned me. I know he doesn’t need me again and I don’t want him as well. I can’t endure his attitude any longer.
“My lord, I want this marriage dissolved without hesitation and I want him to tell the court how he would be taking care of the only child of our relationship, particularly her education,” Aminat stated.
Saheed did not admit the plaintiff’s claim, saying, “You are joking. Do you think you can leave me just like that?
“My lord, help me appeal to her. I don’t want her to go because she is a good woman, respectful and very caring.”
The defendant, while corroborating the plaintiff’s claims, told the court  that he was the one who offended his wife by marrying another woman in Lagos.
According to him, “I didn’t have it in mind to marry a second wife, but my condition warranted it. When I was in Lagos, I had a problem that had to do with money where I work and in the course of this, I met the woman and she assisted me with N150,000 and before I knew it, our relationship had turned into another thing.
“My lord, help me appeal to her because I still love her, I can’t do without her.”
But reacting, Aminat did not agree with her husband’s plea, saying, “I’m no longer for you and by the way, you are already with another woman. Please leave me alone.”
When the court carefully examined the two parties’ evidence, it observed that the relationship had broken down and, therefore, dissolved the six-year-old marriage.
The judge, Mr Owolabi Oluokun, ordered that the defendant should take the responsibility of the child.
