Lepacious Bose before and now
Popular stand-up comedian Lepacious Bose has been through a lot before she decided to shed 100kg off her weight.

Now she is trimmer and sexy. Born Bose Ogunboye, the comedian shares her pains when she was weighty and now. Contrary to people’s believe that she is no longer practising law, Lepacious Bose  spoke about her life as a lawyer and how she has been able to juggle between being a celebrity and a lawyer.

Excerpts.    Lepacious Bose after losing 100kg Why did it take you this long to watch your weight? Because I loved what I saw in the mirror, I was making money from being fat.
All my comedy was about my weight and I didn’t mind. All my family members saw everything wrong about my weight but I didn’t. I saw a letter I wrote to my brother some years back recently in which I told him that “I know you don’t love me because I am fat. Lepacious Bose after losing 100kg
You make me feel uncomfortable, ugly.” It was a very emotional letter. I wrote another one to my father on how he was making me feel ashamed of myself when he was complaining about my weight. I come from a family that didn’t like weight.

Is your weight gain hereditary or how did you come about it? It’s a mental thing that when they complain about it you become depressed and go comfort eating. Somebody say something about your weight and you go and comfort yourself eating chocolate. Something will have to catch your attention to make you watch it.
What my brother had been trying to tell me for over 20 years my 10-year-old nephew told me in five minutes and he got my attention. I will wear beautiful clothes but I cannot wear high heels. Flat shoes don’t make clothes look nice. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Lepacious Bose before and now

Psychologically did your weight affect you? I was very happy when they said I was celebrating my 40th birthday I was just laughing.

How I wish I was 40. I know my age and I look at myself, I am still single and I don’t have a child is this all that is to life?

So I have to make a conscious effort to help myself. Even if I am still single I don’t want people to say it’s because she is fat that she is not yet married. Who will marry her? If I am looking slim and beautiful the way you have said and I am still single people will then say are men blind, what is wrong? Why is she still single?
That sounds better. People think I am not married because of my weight. Those are the turning point that you get to that makes you tell yourself that enough is enough.
I knew when I was ready. Everybody in my house has been on diet because of me but only me was not on diet. I go on diet in front of people but I know there is chocolate, Coca Cola in my room.
How has your weight loss affected your acting career?  I have always being an actress even when I was fat only that the Nigerian movie industry love stereotype roles.

It’s either you are somebody’s mother or one comic role where they insult you and you are happy you are acting but really you are the butt of a joke. I wasn’t getting much jobs and people were not making offers but God has been good, doors have being opening.
I love acting more than I love comedy so I just trust God for better doors and more opportunities to come. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Curvaceous Lepacious Bose Do you still practice law?
My law certificate is very active, I work. I have a day job but I don’t like to talk about it that is Bose Ogunboye’s life. I love talking about Lepacious Bose who is a public figure.
That is why I pity celebrities who cannot define the difference between their private lives and the artist.

I try to protect the Bose Ogunboye and celebrate the Lepacious Bose. I work as a lawyer in an office; I get queried like everybody else. I have a normal life in that regard. I come from an academic family, my parents are both learned and the only condition for me to be an entertainer was that my certificate must not waste. I have been lazy for a long time as they have been pushing me to do my masters but I think I will do that now. Also in a day work, getting a master degree gets you promoted faster.  Some people think that because you are a celebrity, I don’t want to use the word celebrity because truly there are very few celebrities in Nigeria, we are only famous entertainers.
Go to America and you will see what a celebrity is. Being in the people’s face those not make our lives easier, we still face the same challenges, it is even worse.
Life is not easier for us because we are famous. I was size 32, my target was to go to size 22 but I made up my mind to go the whole length and change me. Now I am size 14.
A journey of self-discovery, I know more about me and about God than I will learn in any church.
I know how many times I have wept and fallen into depression. I don’t like granting interviews because it is an emotional thing for me. I have cried so many times and I am still crying.
I am still looking unto God to go on. Kind words said to me now help me a lot. I only regret not documenting my weight loss process and my sister in-law told me in the beginning.
