A dictator governor? Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo state governor A civil society group in Nigeria, Centre for Sustained Dialogue has slammed the Oyo state Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as nothing but an elected dictator.

The group also accused the governor of intimidation and harassment of labour activist in the pace setter state. According to the executive director of the group, comrade Omotosho Hakeem, the  arrest and detention of leaders of the Oyo state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) after they protested against Ajumobi government’s plan to privatise public schools in the state is undemocratic, inhuman and dictatorial.

“The western region was able to developed ahead of other region because of free education policy of the great Awo which Governor Ajimobi was a beneficiary, it is therefore dictatorial to sell our public schools to his acolytes. “Governor Isiaka Ajimobi must understand that education is considered as national emergency, second only to war. Therefore if Oyo state is not at war, within and without, why is Ajimobi selling the school? It is barbaric, unconstitutional and a deliberate evil against the poor majority citizens of Oyo who deserve education.”
