Wow! Ndidi Nwosu wins 5th Gold for Nigeria at the Paralympics...photo

Nigeria’s Ndidi Nwosu won the country’s fifth gold in the women’s -73kg Power lifting event at the ongoing Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in Brazil.

Nwosu lifted 140kg to equal the Paralympics Record (PR), which gave her the coveted gold at the event. France’s Souhad Ghazouani came second after she lifted 135kg, while Egypt’s Amany Ali came third.

The Nigerian was far behind the two counterparts quite early in the event, but she perfected her strategy to take the giant stride that produced the gold medal in the end.

Nwosu initially wanted to go for 127kg, but later requested for 140kg in her third attempt, as the Nigerian clearly took it ahead of the other two competitors. He finally triumphed when both opponents failed to match her; as she equaled Ghazouani’s PR. ‘
