Veteran musician Segun Bucknor is dead



Veteran musician Segun Bucknor is deadAfro-pop artist Segun Bucknor is dead. He died on Friday, August 11. He had suffered stroke which he was able to manage for years before he eventually succumb to death. Before his death, he was confined to his room and bed and his speech was so affected that you could barely hear him speak. He died at the age of 71 Late Bucknor was a jazz and Afro pop artist in his hay days. He started his musical career under the tutelage of highlife singer
, Roy Chicago. He later on became leader of the band called the Soul Assembly which had Mike Nelson Cole and Sunmi Smart Cole as members of the band and were known for their soul songs such as Lord Give Me Soul and I Will Love You No Matter How. The group later drifted from soul songs to a style of Afrobeat. In mourning his death, Sunmi Smart Cole who they formed the Assembly band together took to his Facebook page to pay tribute to the late music icon. Another of his children is lawyer turned event planner extraordinaire Funke Bucknor-Obruthe.
