A father of two identified as Folorunsho Olatilu resident in Akowonjo Lagos has returned a sum of N114, 000 found on a deceased co-passenger he boarded a bus with from Akure, en route Lagos, to the elder brother.

According to Olatilu in a chat with DAILYFAMILY on Thursday, the survivor of an accident that occurred on August 6, said the driver of the bus he boarded collided with an oncoming trailer that was in the wrong lane, leading to a massive somersaulting of their bus which eventually landed in the bush.
Olatilu recount.

“Anyway, all I will say is that our driver wasn’t speeding.  We were on our on our lane, but there was a traffic jam on the other lane, so a trailer suddenly took one way. What our driver noticed before the accident was that the driver of the trailer was sleeping on the wheels.

“Luckily our driver tried to swerve and from then, all I was able to notice was that our bus began somersaulting. Our bus somersaulted three times. After the bus somersaulted, I noticed there were a lot of dead bodies already. I also noticed people that had  fractured their hand and legs; and before I could record some videos as evidence, those seriously injured were already rushed down to the hospital.”
“So after I got home I posted the photos on Facebook, not for any other thing. I am not mocking those who lost their lives but I was only thanking God that I am alive, that I am inside the bus and no injury or internal bleeding was sustained. I posted my testimony on Facebook for people to thank God for me”.

According to DAILYFAMILY’s chat with Olatilu, he said he deepened his hand into a deceased man’s pocket to get his phone which he used to reach his relative, telling them, discreetly that the deceased was only injured in an accident and rushed to the nearest hospital.
Olatilu further said he didn’t just wait there. He further went to another corpse, a female passenger, to retrieve her phone and call her relative just as he did to the previous corpse.
“I checked inside her bag, I picked out her phone, I saw some money inside her bag as well. The last dialled on the deceased woman was ‘Tonia’. And the Tonia in asked in Yoruba, ‘aunty’ where have you gotten to? Thinking it was the deceased that called”.

In response again, Olatilu recounted the same story just as he said to the relative of the deceased man and also informed her about the money in the deceased woman’s bag, asking if he should hand the money to the driver, since there wasn’t any law enforcement agent around, not even road safety.

Olatilu reported that the relative (lady) wanted him to hold the money with him. But later when he put a call through to the same relative on Monday afternoon, the senior brother to the deceased woman picked the phone.
On Tuesday morning, the senior brother to the deceased identified as Mr Odusola Omoyeni forwarded his account number where Olatilu transferred the money.
