The Nigeria Police Force will today, Wednesday, arraign the suspected kidnap kingpin, Chuwudidumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, in Ikeja High Court 18 Lagos State, before Justice OshodiThis is just as a reliable source informed the Tribune Online that police investigation into crimes allegedly committed by the suspect had been concluded before the expiration of the 90 days remand order granted by the Federal High Court.
According to the police source, Evans and 15 of his gang members had so far been arrested and would be facing 14 substantive cases (10 in Lagos and 4 in Edo State) with 52 charges of multiple murders, armed robberies, kidnappings, unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful possession of ammunition, among others.
Tribune Online learnt that Evans’ first case would be the kidnap of Mr Donatus Dunu at Ilupeju area of Lagos, from whom he reportedly collected N150 Million ransom.
It was further gathered that the cases were filed by the Force’s Legal Department and Lagos State Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) before the Lagos State Highcourt, Federal High Court and Edo State High Court, Benin.
Today’s case would be one of the 14 cases the suspect would be facing, while five of his gang members who participated in Mr Donatus Dunu’s kidnap would be arraigned with him, the source further hinted.
The police source added that the remaining 13 cases relating to 13 other victims and other members of Evans’ gang not yet arraigned would also come up on other dates scheduled by the relevant state and Federal High Courts in Lagos and Edo states.
When contacted, the Force Public Relations Office, CSP Moshood Jimoh confirmed the story, saying that Evans’ arraignment in Lagos State today would be the first among others to follow in different places where the offences were committed..
