Updates Kashamu, Fayose War Latest

The attention of the media office of the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Buruji Kashamu, has been drawn to the purported call for his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by some dissidents who gathered today (Thursday) at the Government House, Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

We wish to state that the so-called resolution was the brain-child of the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, who claims to be the Chairman of the South West Reconciliation Committee. Pray, what kind of reconciliation can this cantankerous man deliver? He is not the owner of the PDP. So, he cannot decide who stays or leaves. He tried it last weekend during the National Convention but failed even when Senator Kashamu was not there.

We commend to him Article 57 (7) of the Constitution of PDP which states that, “Notwithstanding any other provision relating to discipline, no Executive Committee at any level, except the National Executive Committee, shall entertain any question of discipline as may relate or concern a member of the National Executive Committee, Deputy Governors or members of the National Assembly.”
By now, Fayose should have known that Senator Kashamu as his benefactor is too big to be moved by threats of suspension or expulsion. Unlike him, the Senator is a man who has made a name for himself before he ventured into partisan politics. With or without PDP, he will still be relevant in the scheme of things. Let us wait to see what becomes of Fayose after October, 2018 when he leaves office. Until then, we might just ask what was his relevance in the scheme of things between 2006 and 2014? For those who fail to learn, history has a way of repeating itself.
