The police in Ebonyi state have arrested 70-year-old, Simon Alobu aka Papa Eke pictured above, for allegedly hypnotizing and repeatedly raping a 7-year-old orphan simply identified as Favour in their compound in Ezi Imo compound, Ohanwegu in the area of the state.
According to The New Telegraph, the incident started about 4 years ago when the suspect tore Favour’s pant with razor blade where he presumably apply some charms to prevent the girl from revealing his identity until the girl revealed his illicit acts on her after attending a crusade at Adoration Ministry, Enugu owned by a Charismatic Catholic Priest Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka.
The man married three wives and has 14 children. None of the wives and children are living with him. One of his wives was divorced while another is dead. The remaining one left him and went to her son who is living outside the area. Investigation shows that little Favour together with her siblings moved to her maternal house where her aunt lives following the death of her parents. The suspect lives in the same compound with the girl and her aunt.
Narrating how he started to sexually harass her, the victim said
“The man said I should come and prepare food for him. After preparing the food,
my brother who with me said he was not eating and left immediately. When my brother left and I was still eating, the man locked the door and carried me to his bed and raped me”. The girl’s aunt, became aware of Favours condition after she complained of severe pains in her private.
According to the woman, she took the girl to Afikpo where the rape was confirmed why efforts to make her reveal the identity of the rapist failed as he continued the act till this year.
“Favour confessed by herself and we went to the man and he agreed that he is the one raping Favour and that he has raped her five times”, she said.
The suspect confessed that he has had carnal knowledge of the girl and that he did it under the influence of alcohol.
“There was a day I drank alcohol. When I tried to penetrate her, she started crying. I actually raped her but it was under alcohol”, he said. He, however, denied that he also raped Favour’s aunt when she was tender.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Loveth Odah, said the suspect is in police custody and will soon be arraigned.
“The man has confessed to the offense and we are ready to charge the matter to court. There is no much to investigate, we are only waiting for the medical report to be a backup to prove the matter in the court. The girl will be subjected to medical examination and at the end of
the day, we will see her health condition”, she said
