29-year-old Lucy Wasem was brutally beaten to death with an
axe and a hammer by her estranged husband Mr. Terkaa Ushir in Gboko,
Benue State last month.
She hailed from Tsambe, Kunav, Vandekya LG while Ushir, who is still on the run, is a tanker driver from Tse Abuul, Ushongo LG.
According the deceased father Mr. Daniel Ahura Akighir
(pictured) of No. 42 OSU Kyambe street, Gboko east, prior to the tragic
incident his son-in-law came to his house for counseling and settlement
over their matrimonial problems
"But after a long discussion, my daughter refused to return
to her husband's house, according to her, the husband's recent odd
behaviors were threat to her life" said the 68-year-old.
"On that particular day, my daughter, Wasem came back from
morning mass and told us (me and her mother) that her husband, Terkaa
invited her for settlement. We were glad hence was our desire for their
reunion"
"Eyewitnesses told me that on reaching there, her husband
locked her in their one room apartment, beat, strangled and axed my
daughter to death. Neighbors attempts to save my daughter proved
abortive as the door was locked and bugle proofed) hmmmmm Girl my
daughter RIP".
After several attempts, the door was forced open and the
lifeless body of Wasem was found under the mattress with deep cuts on
her neck, head in pool of blood. Two axes and hammer were found in the
room stained with blood. Her body has since been deposited in the
mortuary of the General Hospital Gboko.
The accused father was arrested by the police to get more information on the whereabout of his son.
Late. Wasem Terkaa Ushir is survived by two children, her parents and five siblings.
