The investigation is part of a probe by French police into how members of the families of three African presidents - Congo, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea that began in 2010.

French investigators are looking into the entire Nguesso clan as well as relatives of Gabon's late president Omar Bongo and his son, the current ruler, and President Teodoro Obiang Nguema of Equatorial Guinea.

Obiang's son, Teodorin, is currently fighting a case in a Paris court for having diverted the country's assets himself to fund his lavish lifestyle.

Ms. Nguesso and her partner are yet to comment on the investigation, but her lawyer is quoted by RFI as saying that he will try to overturn any indictment.

Gang stole £2,500,000 before staff at HMRC spotted abnormal claims

Adedamola Oyebode and Oluwatobe Emmanuel Odeyemi ran scheme

Pair worked with Oluwagbenga Stephen Odeyemi and Kayode Sanni

A gang of Nigerian fraudsters are facing jail for for using the identities of MPs, judges and police officers during a £10million scam.

The crew stole personal details from the Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC), to make fraudulent claims over a four-year period.

Member lists were ‘stolen to order’ from CSSC and used to place orders for tax credit starter packs used in fraudulent claims over a four year period.

The gang managed to get away with nearly £2,500,000 before staff at Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs spotted the ‘extraordinarily high rate’ of claims being made by civil servants.

If the scam had not been stopped it could have reaped more than £10,260,525.

CSSC events manager Adedamola Oyebode, 30, stole membership lists and passed them on to her brothers-in-law Oluwatobe Emmanuel Odeyemi, 34, and Oluwagbenga Stephen Odeyemi, 39, who ran the fraud with Kayode Sanni, 38.

Sanni, an illegal immigrant, denied being involved in the fraud and told Old Bailey jurors ‘my conscience is clear’ as he stood trial alone.

But he was convicted of one count of conspiracy to become knowingly concerned in a fraudulent act between 10 March 2009 and 11 June 2013.

Judge Michael Topolski QC remanded him in custody and said: ‘I’m quite satisfied at this stage that there is a significant risk that if he were released on bail he would fail to attend.

‘In my judgement the situation has changed drastically.

‘He chose to contest this matter against what I considered to be overwhelming evidence.

‘His incentive to stay in this country has now diminished.’

Emmanuel Odeyemi, Gumbs and Adedamole Oyebode have already pleaded guilty and will be sentenced with Sanni at the Old Bailey on 6 July.

Prosecutors have dropped charges against Emmanuel’s wife Oluwatosin Oyebode.

Prosecutor Allison Hunter QC said: ‘These defendants went to exceptionally complex and sophisticated lengths in their orchestration of this fraud.

‘They themselves operate under a number of fluid pseudonyms and false identities, operate a multiplicity of email address, have access to a number of mobile phone numbers and have spread the conduct of this fraud over computers and electronic storage devices sufficient to stock a small warehouse.’

Ms Hunter said the investigators began by identifying one of the multiple false tax credit claimants as Chantelle Gumbs, who has admitted her part in the scam.

The source of the stolen identity was traced to the CSSC in Chadwick Street, Westminster, where six staff had password protected access to members’ details.

Adedamole Oyebode, who worked for the CSSC between August 2008 and August 2010, has since admitted supplying lists of members and their details in return for payment.

She also made calls to the tax credit helpline to obtain application packs.

Further investigation revealed the fraudsters had used the details to create false identities, buy online insurance and open false bank accounts to receive the cash.

The profits of the scam were then transferred out into either their own accounts or through Western Union facilities set up by Sanni and Emmanuel Odeyemi.

Jurors were told that two of the gang, Stephen Odeyemi and his wife Oluwatumininu Banjo, 40, have fled to Nigeria and are wanted abroad.

Ms Hunter said: ‘These individuals conspired together to obtain in excess of £10,260,525.33 in fraudulent tax credits using the identities of 10,300 police officers, MPs, members of the judiciary, and civil servants for example, whose personal data and information was stolen from the Civil Service Sports Council.

‘The CSSC provides leisure events and activities together with sporting and fitness facilities to approximately 120,000 Public Sector employees or pensioners, including civil servants, local government employees, the NHS, teachers, police officers, fire fighters and HM Armed Forces personnel.’

Sanni, from Leeds, denied but conspiracy to become knowingly concerned in a fraudulent act - but was convicted of the crime.

Adedamola Oyebode, from Bellingham, southeast London, Stephen Odeyimi from Dagenham, Essex and Chantelle Gumbs, will be sentenced alongside him for fraud charges on 6 July at the Old Bailey.

Oluwatumininu Banjo, also from Dagenham, and Emmanuel Odeyemi, from Gravesend, Kent, are believed to be on the run in Nigeria.

Simon York, Director of Fraud Investigation Service at HMRC, said: 'We have dismantled an organised criminal attack on the tax credits system. HMRC officers and our counter-fraud checks identified the attack, and our investigators uncovered those behind the fraud, preventing £8 million of false claims being paid to the criminals. A further £2.4 million in tax credits claimed by the fraudsters was paid before we could stop the crime group and prevent further fraud.

'Tax Credits are paid to some of the most vulnerable people in our society. We have to strike a balance between making it easy for people to receive what is due, and having procedures in place to identify and stop fraudulent claims. Our investigation was made more difficult as the criminals had hijacked real identity details to make the fraudulent claims.'

Lanre Gentry took to IG early hours of this morning to thank God for the door He has shut, to thank Him for what he has blocked saying most times people put so much effort in trying to put broken pieces together, instead of thinking deep about the situation and appreciating God. He wrote;

Que Sera; Sera
What will be; will be.
Sometimes we put so much effort trying to put broken pieces together.
Take time to think; be appreciative of all situations and be grateful for whatever door that's be slammed on your face.
Be grateful for what God has blocked.

Two weeks after the arrest of a notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, the police have yet to determine when the suspect will be arraigned in court.

This is just as the Lagos State Police Command said it was not aware of any other media interview with Evans since he was paraded on June 11.

The 36-year-old was apprehended on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

He also revealed his involvement in drug trafficking and robberies.

Six of his gang members were also paraded.

A Lance Corporal, Victor Chukwunonso, attached to the Nigeria Army Band Corps, Abatti Barracks, Surulere, Lagos State, had also been arrested by the police for allegedly belonging to the kidnappers’ gang.

However, the police said they were still taking an inventory of Evan’s criminal activities.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, on Monday, stated that he would be arraigned after investigations.

He directed our correspondent to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Moshood Jimoh, for details on the arraignment date.

He said, “After investigations, the Inspector-General of Police will give directive onwhat to do.

“There are some other pieces of information about the suspect that must be known to us about things that happened years ago. We have to update all of them in our record. You can call the FPRO for other necessary information.”

Famous-Cole also said the command had not presented Evans to the media for interview since the June 11 parade, adding that the police were not aware of other purported interviews with him.

“Journalists interviewed him during the parade led by the FPRO. Information being put out now probably came from the parade on that day.  I am not aware of any other parade.”

The FPRO did not pick calls  and had yet to reply to a text message sent to him as of press time.

Lobatan! Meet the 65-year-old Ugandan man with 176 children, 90 grandchildren, 13 wives, 10 girlfriends and is still expecting more kids

65-year- old Mustafa Magambo Mutone is a proud father of 176 children, 90 grandchildren and has 13 wives and 10 girlfriends.
According to Mustafa, he's having financial challenges to train all of them and wants the Government to support some of his 176 children.
“I have tried to feed my 13 wives and over 170 children and it is not easy. I request the Government to at least sponsor 30 of my children in secondary schools and tertiary institutions,” Mutone, a businessman and a resident of Kyaterekera trading centre in Kagadi district, said.
He added that he has over 40 children in primary school and has plans to establish his own nursery and primary school in Kyaterekera sub-county. He says he has about 10 children in the universities (Makerere, Mbarara and Kyambogo), most of them on private sponsorship. Mutone has five pairs of twins among his children. His children will hit the 180 mark by the end of the year because six of his wives are pregnant.

Mutone, a Mubwisi by tribe, is the chairman of Kyaterekera A village. He was born on January 1, 1952 in Kiryabwenju, Nyamiti parish, Muhorro town council in Kagadi district. His first marriage was in 1968 at 16 years of age.

In an interview with Ugandan's New Vision, he explained that he is still strong enough to marry more wives and bear more children, since he does not drink alcohol, smoke or take sugar.

Mutone, who deals in produce (beans, maize and coffee), also owns a wholesale shop at Kyaterekera trading centre. He says some of his wives are working as midwives at Mulago Hospital and Mbarara Hospital and in Rwanda.
"Two of my wives who gave birth to twins are in Kampala and Isingiro, working as midwives, while another two — Haniffer Kabasomi and Jane Tuhaise — work as nurses. My youngest wife is 25, and the eldest is 50, but I had about 10 girlfriends before I married officially and they all delivered the same year,” Mutone said.
According to him,  his first born child is 49 years old, while the youngest are four-year-old twins. He further noted that he has over 90 grandchildren. The grey-haired Mutone, said he has a special book where he records every child born whether within the country or outside, because he has some wives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi.

He said one of the challenges he faces is the long distance as some of his women live in different parts of the country.

‘’I receive about 10 calls every day from different wives who want attention but I cannot be everywhere. I have seven wives in Kagadi alone,” he said. “I do not have any challenge of supporting them because some of them support themselves since they work,” Mutone said.

Madina Tibasiima, 45, one of his wives who has nine children, said she has not faced any problems with a big family because most of her children are working as soldiers, civil servants, and nurses. She, however, said her younger children need school fees; some are in primary school and others in secondary school.

One of Mutone’s sons, Kyaise Suwedi, 40, the Gombolola internal security officer of Kyaterekera, said his monthly salary caters for some of his brothers’ education.
“We were groomed by our father to be responsible, have good morals and work hard. The only challenge is the big number of dependants of other wives who have children aged between four and 13 years,’’ Kyaise said.
While another son, Muhamad Byarufu, aged 45,  said he owns a business and helps pay school fees of some of his younger brothers.
"We have a programme of starting up a school with our father, since some of my brothers are teachers. We will not find a problem hiring teachers and having pupils to teach. Some of my young brothers are in primary elsewhere and some children of our stepmothers are of school-going age. They can fill the classes,’’ he said.

Two months ago, we also reported about a Ugandan lady identified as Mariam Nabatanzi Babirye who has 38 children, most of them twins, triplets and quadruplets and she gave birth to all of them at home.

In one of his numerous confessional statements, Evans the kidnapper said Suoyo is one of the most active members of his gang, who had the job of buying arms and ammunition, for their operations.
He said:
“When Suoyo, who lives in Bayelsa State, called me and expressed fears, I also assured him that nothing was going to happen. I told him I was making plans for another operation and needed him to go into the creeks and buy a new set of arms and ammunition”.
