Defamation: Yewande Adekoya Abiodun’s lawyer writes Kemi Ashefon; demands apology or be sued

Defamation- Yewande Adekoya Abiodun letter of redress Kemi Ashefon lailasnews 4Popular Yoruba actress Yewande Adekoya Abiodun has written a letter to journalist Kemi Ashefon through her lawyers, instructing her to apologise for alleged defamatory statements she recently made against Yewande Adekoya or get sued within seven days.

Kemi Ashefon last month reported on her website that Yewande Adekoya had been placed under house arrest in the United States of America for crimes related to credit card scam and bank transfer fraud.
Yewande Adekoya was said to have fallen prey to some Nigerians in Atlanta Georgia who made use of her bank accounts for fraudulent fund transfer.
The award-winning actress, who is married to actor and movie producer, Abiodun Thomas, was allegedly ordered to home arrest and instructed to surrender her passport while investigations are still ongoing.
Kemi reported that a source in Atlanta, US revealed to her that:
“Her (Yewande Adekoya Abiodun) account was used to make some fraudulent transfers in the United States and she was arrested for questioning.
This is no new practice among some Nigerian actors and their foreign fraudulent promoters who use them for such crimes and they get huge cuts from such deals,”
The actress, who travelled to the US in October 2017 for the Oodua Image Awards in Houston Texas, hasn’t returned to Nigeria since then. She is said to have stayed back to shoot a film before the criminal act was committed.

In the letter dated December 31st, 2017, Yewande Adekoya Abiodun denied being arrested for a credit card fraud crime adding that she was never in the United States.
Yewande and her husband, Abiodun in order to debunk Kemi Ashefon’s story that she had been placed on house arrest in America over her involvement in bank transactions fraud to the tune of over $3million, had earlier released an Instagram video claiming she was in the premises of Lagos Television LTV 8 in Nigeria.
She and her lawyers are demanding an unreserved public apology from journalist Kemi Ashefon within 7 days of receiving their letter or they would seek legal redress.
