Shockwaves are reverberating across Yorùbáland and the global Yorùbá diaspora following the sudden death of the Baba Ọba (King’s Father) of the famed Oyotunji African Village in South Carolina, USA. The late Baba Ọba, Lukman Arohunfale, a revered socialite and traditionalist, passed away under circumstances already sparking fierce controversy. His death comes just days after he publicly accused the newly installed Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Akeem Adéyẹmọ Owoade, of allegedly ordering his courtiers to beat him mercilessly during a recent courtesy visit to the Oyo palace in Nigeria. First it was discovered that prior to the said dress being given to the star actress for the shoot, model was styled in the same dress for a different shoot, five days ago before it was given to Mercy Aigbe for her 40th birthday shoot. The photos of the model rocking the dress was shared on fan page for the designer.
In a last minute bid to do damage control, the brand took to their ‘private’ Instagram page to try and explain their part of the story claiming it was a mix up and the bride had been apologised to.
The bride who has now been named as Miss Lawrentta was surely not having it as she claimed that no apology had been made to her neither would the one made on social media suffice.
