Nigerian man reads aloud for 4 days, breaks Guinness World Record

 At an event sponsored by GTBank and Lagos State and  Government in Commemoration of World Book Day held at GT You Read Library Centre Yaba Lagos, Mr. Olubayode Treasures Olawunmi became a Guinness World Recordholder.The Nigerian man who started his ‘Read Aloud Marathon’ attempt of 120 hours to break Guinness World Record earlier this week, achieved his dream earlier today and took to Twitter to share his excitement. He tweeted;

In 2017, a Nigerian dancer Pinki Debbie, broke the longest dance marathon record, which was previously held by an Indian woman, Kalamandalam Hemaletha at the Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy in Thrissur, Kerala, India, who danced for 123 hours and 15 minutes, approximately five days, from September 20 to 26 in 2010.

Pinki Debbie broke the record and continued dancing to set a new record by going for 150 hours, approximately seven days.

The 22-year-old dance performer, exhibitionist, and media influencer in the Nigerian entertainment industry started her attempt at The Palms Shopping Mall, VI on Friday, November 17 and concluded on Friday, November 24, 2017.

Debbie, a graduate of policy and strategic studies from Covenant University, started dancing when she was six years old. She draws her inspiration from her mother whose support for her work has been unwavering.

Many celebrities in the country also supported her quest, to break the previous record and set a new one.
