We were supposed to go rejoice with you on your wedding day which is the 31st of this month but death took you away from us today. This is humanly painful and beyond our understanding but despite it all, the Lord is good and His mercy is forever. I will miss you so much my dear friend… Rest in the bosom of our Lord.”  “Nobody was contacting me, I did not talk to anyone, no one told me about the situation,” he said.
Mr Nathan Sharibu appealed to the Nigerian government to ensure that his daughter was released and allowed to meet him “because this would only keep my mind at rest.”
On 19 February 2018, Boko Haram militants attacked Dapchi town and kidnapped 110 of the girls.
Last Wednesday,106 of the Dapchi girls were released  along with another lady and man but Leah Sharibu was held back by the insurgents reportedly because she refused to denounce Christianity and accept Islam.
Leah Sharibu refused to accept Islam, despite pleas from her classmates to pretend to do so.
On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari told the freed Dapchi girls that he was committed to get Leah Sharibu also freed.
At first, the Yobe state government said all the women had escaped, but subsequently dismissed the request and appealed to their parents.
On Saturday, the Inspector General of Police Idris Ibrahim said Federal Government of Nigeria had reached a breakthrough in securing Leah Sharibu‘s release and she was on her way back home.
This was in an interview with journalists at the Military Command and Control Center in Maiduguri where he visited the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole.
Idris Ibrahim said he had been scheduled to travel to Dapchi but shelved the trip so as not to jeopardize Leah Sharibu’s release.

President Buhari has admitted the kidnap was a major disaster in the country..
