Wanted cultist arrested while trying to machete a rival in Lagos lailasnewsActing on credible intelligence, the Lagos State Police command arrested a wanted cultist identified as Kanmi a.k.a Father and one Samuel Alami while trying to machete a rival in Lagos.Kanmi whose rank was infiltrated by the underground operatives of the Command, was arrested at exactly 5pm yesterday, after officers of the command laid ambush in Ilasamaja community in the state after receiving information that the notorious cultist and his gang members, were planning to attack the community members yesterday, March 29th.
Kanmi a.k.a Father was spotted at Hassan Street, Ilasamaja  with two of his criminal  associates in a fight  with a young man suspected to be a member of a rival confraternity .He was challenged by the Police officers, when he lifted his machete to cut his rival. According to the police, cult related violence had resumed in the neighbourhood following Kanmi’s release from prison.

A locally made pistol loaded with two cartridges was recovered from the suspect, who was arrested after running from the police officers following the challenge he got.

Few weeks ago, we also reported that the Lagos State Police Command arrested a 15-year-old student, Idris and others during a cult initiation.  Idris, a Junior Secondary School one student at a private school in the Orile area of Lagos state, was paraded along with 56 other suspected cult members at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects were rounded up at Elemoro, in the Ajah area by the police and members of a vigilante group in the community.
The cult had gone inside a bush some distance away from Eleko Beach, Ajah, to perform initiation rites for new members, including Idris, who had tattoos on his chest and hand.
They were about to complete the rites when the operatives swooped on them around 4 am. Two locally-made cut-to-size guns, three live cartridges and 22 expended cartridges were reportedly recovered from them.
