Though 31-year-old Oritse Williams denied the accusations at the time of his arrest in a statement released through his management company, 10 Worlds Music UK, however it was gathered that the pop star and his friend, Jamien Nagadhana, have been charged with rape. The duo will appear before magistrates on 11 October.

Confirming the charge, a West Midlands Police spokesman said:

‘We’ve charged two men with sexual offences after an allegation of rape at a Wolverhampton hotel in December 2016.

‘Both men are due to appear at Walsall and Aldridge Magistrates Court on 11 October’.


 
Daily Mail reported that JLS star Aston Merrygold and Rochelle Humes have given their support to Oritsé Williams after he was charged with raping a fan in a hotel room after a gig. Singer Merrygold led the show of support by sharing a snapshot of himself and his bandmates performing on The X Factor before finding fame.

Captioning the shot, he wrote: ‘These 3 guys… The nicest, most humble, caring, selfless, hardworking (I could go on..) people I’m lucky enough to call family! No matter what we are brothers like it or not! And we stand in each other corner’ [sic]

Echoing that sentiment, The Saturdays star Humes added her support, commenting under the caption: ‘Always!!’

Williams formed the boyband JLS in 2007, originally under the name UFO. The four-piece came second to Alexandra Burke in the 2008 series of X Factor. Their 2009 debut album, JLS, was certified four times platinum in the UK.

Three subsequent albums performed less well, and the group split in 2013. Williams continued to perform solo and release singles. In 2013, he and AJ Azari won the ITV dancing series Stepping Out.
