Oba Olobayo dies at 71 
He was ill for three months – Burial arrangements currently being planned The Obadofin of Oweland, Mike Yusuff, has announced the death of the Obaro of Kabba in Kogi state, Oba Michael Olobayo. 

Late Oba Michael Olobayo The first class monarch was said to have died on May 21, 2016 at the age of 71, according to The News. Before the announcement, speculation about his death had gone on for dome days as he was said to be ill for three months before he eventually passed on. 

The nature of the illness was not disclosed. Olobayo from the Ajibohokun clan of Ilajo ruling house ascended the throne on October 17, 1985 and was the chairman of the Kabba traditional council. A three-week mourning period in honour of the departed monarch has also been announced during which there would be preparations for burial of the king. The palace urged residents not to panic but go about their activities peacefully while calling for prayers for the departed monarch and his family. 
The monarch’s death is coming at a time traditional rulers in Nigeria have become an endangered set of people. Some of them have been victims of kidnappers. Recently, unknown gunmen on Friday evening, May 20, kidnapped Chief Ahmed Aminu Aku, a traditional ruler of Elete community in Ajaokuta local government area of Kogi state. According to the report, the third class chief was kidnapped at about 8.30pm while returning from Ajaokuta to his community. It was gathered that Chief Aku was accosted by the gunmen as he was about to enter his home. Seconds after, he was whisked away to an unknown destination.
