The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has ordered the recall of the Rivers State Sector Commander, Ayodele Kumapayi, to Abuja for alleged misconduct.
It was learnt that Kumapayi would be issued a query for allegedly cutting the hair of some female officers, who he accused of improper dressing.
The Head, Media Relations and Strategy, FRSC, Bisi Kazeem, confirmed on Tuesday that the commander had been recalled to the corps headquarters to defend his action.
The social media has have been awash with pictures showing Kumapayi using a pair of scissors to cut the braided hair of some female personnel as punishment for carrying long braids.
The incident reportedly took place during the routine early morning parade in Port-Harcourt.
Kazeem explained that the sector commander was recalled to pave the way for proper investigation into the matter.
“He (Kumapayi) has been asked to come back to the headquarters where he would defend himself against the allegations against him. His recall is a normal procedure,” the spokesman said.
Kazeem added that no disciplinary action would be taken against the sector commander until he had defended himself before his superior officers.
