The corpse of a 47-year-old civil servant identified as Mr. Salami Adekunle who was killed by lightning has been rejected by the management of llorin Muslim Cemetery, on Friday, 22nd September 2017.

The civil servant had died after he got struck by lightning in Oro, lrepodun Local Government Area of Kwara.
The Coordinator in charge of the Cemetery, Dr. Abubakar Aliagan, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in llorin.
In his statement, Aliagan said the cemetery management unanimously rejected the burial of the deceased following an instruction that the corpse should not undergo the normal Islamic prayers and bath.

The coordinator further added that despite that the deceased was described as a practicing Muslim during his lifetime, Muslims in his neighbourhood said his death wasn’t a natural death.
Therefore he emphasized that performing the usual Muslim funeral rite for Adekunle’s corpse after his death was unacceptable to the management of the cemetery, as the burial of the deceased in the Muslim Cemetery must also align with Islamic tenets.
“If the late Salami will sleep in our Muslim cemetery, we have to do it in line with lslamic rites,’’ Aliagan said.

The civil servant was struck by lightning while there was a heavy downpour on Thursday, which eventually led to his death.
Late Adekunle hails from lnisa in Osun. Until his death, he was a staff of Kwara College of Education, Oro and precisely in the Registry Department.
