These Are 10 Reasons to Be Happy on Valentine’s Day

This post tends to lighten up the moods of single ladies and gentlemen hiding their faces as a result of the looming fever of Valentine’s Day.
Single on Valentine’s Day? Count your blessings. There are plenty of reasons why it’s great to be unattached on February 14th. Here are just 10 of them:
1. There no Valentine’s Day awkwardness or pressure:
You don’t have to worry about whether or not you should buy him a gift, bring her white roses or red, or what the other person’s expectations for the day are. There’s no pressure to take a young relationship to the next level too soon, nor is there an expectation to reignite a long-lost spark.
2. You have a great excuse to hang out with your single friends:
Whether you’re gushing over Valentine’s-appropriate chick flicks together or rebelling with horror films and Chinese takeout, Valentine’s Day can be a great day of bonding. If you’re disappointed to miss out on a candlelit meal, host a semi-formal dinner party that celebrates friendship and singleness. (Being single doesn’t mean you have to go without champagne, either.)
3. Make the day all about you and the things you love:
You hate roses but love daisies — so buy yourself some. Stay in and indulge in the guilty pleasures you don’t get enough of: favorite foods, a trashy television show, a bubble bath or a new book. Pamper yourself, guilt-free.
4. You’re going to save money:
Valentine’s Day, with its romantic dinners, flowers, gifts and (occasionally) sexy lingerie, can get pricey. Instead, count your financial blessings and buy those chocolates half price on the 15th.
5. You can spend it with your Hollywood crush:
Who needs a boyfriend when you’ve got a Leo DiCaprio movie marathon lined up? (Invite friends over who share the same crush and swoon together.)
6. You can roll your eyes at other couples: They won’t even notice.
7. You can escape the fake holiday’s commercialism without disappointing your partner:
It’s easy to shrug Valentine’s Day off as a Hallmark-created one — until there’s someone in your life who’s not-so-secretly hoping you’ve made a reservation at the most romantic spot in town.
8. You can celebrate where you’re at right now: You’re not in a bad relationship. The future is open to endless beautiful possibilities. Choose hope, rather than self-pity.
9. You can eat those chocolates in sweatpants, a way more comfortable option than doing so in a cocktail dress.
You don’t have to squeeze into a cocktail dress.
10. You won’t get dumped on Valentine’s Day:
We think Valentine’s Day should be about celebrating all the types of love in your life — not just romantic love. So what and who do you love?

The incident happened on January 26, 2017 in Adijinkpor village in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State.

He said, “It is the work of the devil. I do not know how. I am the one that killed her. I killed her with knife. She was my girlfriend and I knew her for just two months before this incident happened. I slept with her corpse after killing her.

It was strange sleeping with a dead corpse. I never had s*x with her when she was alive because she never gave me that opportunity. I was always giving her money but she didn’t allow us to have s*x.”

According to the story, the man had invited the deceased mother-of-two out in the night of January 26 and took her to his apartment. He was said to have killed the woman when she refused to allow him have s*x with her.

TB Joshua splashes N25m on miracle armed robbery survivor whose mum & sister were slaughtered by the robbers

Tears flowed freely at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, on Sunday 12th February 2017 following the emotional testimony of Praise Sunday, a young boy literally rescued from the jaws of death.

At the tender age of 12, Praise’s world came crashing down when armed robbers mercilessly slaughtered his mother and younger sister before his eyes. The heartless attack, which occurred on May 8th 2016, almost claimed Praise’s life but for ‘Divine intervention’

According to the young boy from Agbor, Delta State, the bandits first bound their feet and hands before demanding for money from his mum Edith, a widow struggling to run a small provisions store.

When the meagre amount available in the house was presented without an accompanying bank card, the thieves became vulgar and violent.

“They took my sister inside the room, cut her neck and left her dead on the floor,”
Praise soberly recalled, much to the shock of the congregation. She was only 10 years old. “They then carried my mum, raped her and slaughtered her; they stabbed her in so many places.”

The young boy had just witnessed the gruesome mutilation of his beloved family - but the robbers weren’t finished.
“They left her dead on the floor and came back for me. They took me into the room where I saw my mum and sister lying in a pool of blood. They then cut my neck and stabbed me in the chest.”
Praise was thrown roughly on the floor as the criminals took their leave, assuming he had already died.
Hands and feet helplessly tied with blood spurting from the gaping wound on his neck, it seemed the end had come for Praise Sunday. Then, something extraordinary happened!
“I managed to open my eyes and saw something white, sparkling and tall like a human being. It carried me, took me to my neighbor’s gate, shook it and then disappeared.”
When his neighbour’s rushed out, they found Praise’s bloodied body dumped at their doorstep, his arms and legs bound together. Raising the alarm, they rushed him to hospital.

Lapsing in and out of consciousness and fighting for his life, Praise was taken to the General Hospital in Agbor before being transferred to the Federal Medical Centre.
“Blood was pumping out like a shower; they could not control it,” he recalled of the traumatic ordeal.
Although Praise miraculously survived the attack following emergency surgery and the usage of "T.B. Joshua’s Morning Water", he was left with his vocal chords severely damaged and a pipe inserted into his throat. For nine long months, he could not utter a single word.
After seven operations at medical institutions across the country yielding no result and several pleas for financial aid to government bodies within Delta State falling on seemingly deaf ears, the family decided to pay a visit to The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos.

Hearing of his heartbreaking ordeal, T.B. Joshua – well known for his philanthropic gestures – instantly sprang into action, promising to sponsor Praise’s travel overseas for more advanced medical attention.
Shortly afterwards, the young boy left for Cape Town, South Africa with his caring aunt Mabel, “all expenses paid for by Prophet T.B. Joshua and Emmanuel TV partners”.

There, a four-hour major operation was conducted at Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Cape Town, overseen by specialists Dr Martin Vanlierde and Professor Mark De Groot.
Given a clean bill of health after several months of check-ups, Praise returned to Nigeria to testify that his vocal abilities had been completely restored.

A total of $50,000 (N25m) was spent by Joshua on Praise’s trip, covering his welfare, travelling expenses and medical bills.
Surrounded by his extended family and grateful community members, Praise’s final words spoke volumes.
“I encourage the rich and privileged in society to emulate Prophet T.B. Joshua and help poor people like me. Then, Nigeria would be a much better place for us all.”

How Whistle-Blower Help Nigeria Discover Another N42b Loot From Fake Bank Account

The Federal Government said on Sunday that its whistle-blower policy had started yielding fruits. It said the policy had so far led to recovery of over $151m (N46bn) and N8bn in looted funds.
"When we told Nigerians that there was a primitive and mindless looting of the national treasury under the last administration, some people called us liars
“Well, the whistle-blower policy is barely two months old and Nigerians have started feeling its impact, seeing how a few people squirrelled away public funds.
“It is doubtful if any economy in the world will not feel the impact of such mind-boggling looting of the treasury as was experienced in Nigeria.
"Yet, whatever has been recovered so far, including the $9.2m by the EFCC, is just a tip of the iceberg."
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, stated this in a statement.

The minister said the looted funds, which did not include the $9.2m in cash allegedly owned by a former Group Managing Director of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu, were recovered from just 3 sources through whistle-blowers who he said gave actionable information to the office of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN).

He said that the $9.2m cash and others, were also dividends of the whistle-blower policy.

The minister said that the biggest amount of $136,676,600.51 (N42bn) was recovered from an account in a commercial bank, where he said money was kept under an apparently fake account name.

This, he said, was followed by N7bn and $15m from another person and N1bn from yet another.

Mohammed appealed to Nigerians with useful information on looted funds to continue to provide the authorities with such information, saying confidentiality would be maintained with regard to the source of the information.

The minister also reminded Nigerians of the financial reward aspect of the policy, saying "If there is a voluntary return of stolen or concealed public funds or assets on the account of the information provided, the whistle-blower may be entitled to between 2.5 per cent (minimum) and 5 per cent (maximum) of the total amount recovered."

Meanwhile, some human rights groups – the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project and the Campaign for Democracy – have called on the Federal Government to show value for the recovered loot by immediately injecting the money into the economy.

A former senior official at the State Security Service has been kidnapped. Mike Ejiofor, who served as a state director with the service, was kidnapped on Sunday in Kogi State, according to initial reports by SR.

“He was kidnapped truly,” a close associate of Mr. Ejiofor said. “But we are making frantic efforts to secure his safe release without further hassles.”

“I will get back to you if we have further updates,” the source told PT. The source did not say if Mr. Ejiofor’s abductors have made demands.

NTA Staff Narrates Ordeal In The Hands Of Kidnappers

The chief driver with the Nigeria Television Authority, Mr. Eze Wilson, who was kidnapped by gunmen, said he was kept and fed with noodles in a toilet for over two weeks by his abductors.

Wilson was kidnapped on January 20, 2017 along Apara Link road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State while driving home from his office in a Hyundai car belonging to his boss.

Narrating how he was abducted to Southern City News, Wilson said the hoodlums overtook him and two of them forcefully entered his car.

He said on Friday that his abductors ordered him to drive through a path to a place where he was finally held hostage for many days.

Explaining that his hands were initially tied by his abductors, Wilson stated that the bandits tried to force him to smoke Indian hemp.

The NTA employee said he stood his ground that he had never smoked before and would not be able to withstand India hemp.

“I was beaten on several occasions, especially on the first day before they now realised that I was a driver and not the owner of the Hyundai car they saw me drive. They told me they did not know I was a driver and kept me in a toilet throughout my stay there. They always fed me with Indomie (noodles). They gave me yam and garri on few occasions.

“I ate whatever food they brought to me in the toilet; I was also using the toilet whenever I was pressed and slept there at night. They threatened to cut off my head and place it in front of our gate. That actually frightened me, but I had hope in God that I would be out of the place.

“One of them, a graduate, told me that he decided to go into kidnapping when police seized his taxi cab, refused to release it, and left him with nothing to earn a living,” Eze added.

Speaking further, the victim explained that the hostage takers later brought an electric fan into the toilet to reduce the heat inside the place.

A statement by the state Police Command indicated that Wilson and two others, who were kidnapped on January 20, 2017, were rescued on Friday, February 10, 2017 after a gun duel with the abductors.

The statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, identified the other two victims as Timi Endure (Female) and Nasi Fatima (female).
