Ooni Of Ife Sponsored My 40th Birthday Celebration ToThe US- Says Younger Sister

Princess Adebimpe Ogunwusi is one of the younger sisters of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife. She turned 40 a few months ago but traveled to the US with her  two other sisters to celebrate her big day. In this interview with City People, she explains how the Ooni sponsored the trip, how growing up was fun with Ooni in Ibadan and how she has remained the naughtiest. See interview below...

How did you feel when you turned 40?
That was on May 1 to be precise, 2 months ago. I was so happy. I thank God for the journey so far. It is not by might but by the grace of God. It is the Lord’s doing. There are a lot of people who were born on the same day I was born that are no more. I thank God for my life, for giving me the grace to turn 40.

Before you turned 40, what plans did you have in terms of how to celebrate it.

I actually have been looking forward to it! I actually wanted a big birthday. I wanted to do it in 2 parts before. I wanted to have the morning session which would be the church service and reception in the evening. I had wanted to invite Obesere to play. I like Obesere a lot. But I just could not do that. One of my uncles died, so I couldn’t have an elaborate party. I eventually changed the way I wanted to celebrate it. So, I travelled with my sisters abroad. I went to America to celebrate it, courtesy the Ooni of Ife. He sponsored the trip, with the help of some of my friends like Bimbo Odeyemi (based in Canada), My father and my father’s wife. Everything turned out well.

What has changed about Princess Adebimpe?
Yes, I have mellowed down a bit. I used to be on the ‘go, go, go, side’. I love to party. Yes, I love to mix with people. I love to roll. I love to make friends. I am a happy person. Yes, Bimpe of many years compared to Bimpe of now, Bimpe at 40. My brothers will say Onijongbon ni’. Now, I am trying to mellow down because am not getting younger. Now, I have a lot of ‘bukatas’. I am the last born of the family and I have a lot of responsibilities. There is a huge difference between Bimpe of then and now. Yes, I still look up to my siblings for a lot of things. But now at 40, I need to do a lot of things on my own. I am closer to God now.

Where were you born?
I was born in UCH in Ibadan. I schooled in Ibadan. I went to Subiola Memorial Nursery and Primary School, Agodi Ibadan. I went to IDC, Ibadan District Council, I went to Isabatudeen Girls Grammar School. I went to Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke. From there, I travelled to Canada to have my diploma in Health Sciences before I relocated back to Nigeria.

What were your recollections of your growing up in Ibadan?
Growing up in Ibadan then was beautiful, especially in our area at Akobo in Ibadan. My parents were one of the first settlers there. They moved their in 1979. I was around 2 years old then. My parents with some other families started the area. Ibadan is a very good place to live (peacefully). I remember the Kayodes, Owolabis that we grew up together. My new husband too. We grew up together. We went to the same coaching lesson after school. It was fun growing up in Ibadan with my siblings. I was the youngest. So, I was pampered all the way.

Some of your siblings say you took after your mum in so many ways. Is this true?
Yes. Even my dad would tell me I took after my mother. My mum was a blessed person. What she does not want she does not want. And what she wants, she would go for it. She was sometimes very daring, but she was loving, and accommodating. My mum was very strict in her lifetime, infact super strict. But my dad is the opposite, calm, cool.

How did you take the passing away of your mum about 5 years ago?

It affected me. I kind of prepared for it in 2011. I was in Canada then. I came home for my dads 70th birthday, March 5 to be precise. When I saw my mum, I knew she was ill. With my experience abroad, where I worked in the healthcare sector, I knew she was sick. On my dads birthday, I was asked to give the vote of thanks but I began to cry because I could see mummy was changing in terms of behaviour.

My dads 70th birthday, it was my mum that called for it. She said she wanted everybody to come together. Its very unlike her. She didn’t like publicity, she did not like fanfare. I told my brothers that, for my mum to call everyone together to celebrate my dad birthday, there is more to it and calls for suspicion. So, I went to her, put my head on her chest and I started crying. She didn’t say ‘pele’. She did not say stop crying.

That kind of prepared me a little bit. Weeks after I travelled back to Canada, I was called that she had passed. She was in UCH for 3 weeks before she passed on. I miss her a great deal. She was able to put me through life, the bad, the good and the ugly. She was able to teach me lessons in life-like not borrowing from people, to stop depending on people, never say fail, be bold to face life. Prayer and Fasting to confront challenges. She always tells us life is not a bed of roses. She taught the 6 of us to be one family. I thank God for my father too.

How come you and your 2 other sisters are very closed?
Yes, we are very close. My 2 other sisters are on the quiet side, most especially my senior sister, Princess Folashade. She is super quiet. The other is semi-quiet. Colour wise, they are both light. I am the dark one. I am a little bit different from both of them, in terms of quietness, in terms of being a little reserve. They usually take their time before they mix with people but I mix straight away. Maybe because they are my seniors.

As for me, once I get somewhere I blend. They are much more older than me though. Princess Adesola is 5 years older than me. Princess Folashade is 7 or 8 years older than me. So, there is a big gap between the 3 of us. Most people don’t know this. People think Princess Adesola is the last born of the family, maybe because I am big. But we are all very close. Kabiyeesi is in between Princess Adesola and I. I am so blessed having them as my sisters. I can’t ask for more. I lived in Canada for about 9 years. Whilst I was in Canada, I missed them a lot. So, I used to be on phone with them in the morning, afternoon and night. Having them as my sisters is just God’s blessings. We party together. We wear similar outfits. Some people think we are Olooris. We tell them we are not Olooris but Kabiyeesi’s sisters.

How about the guys?
They are close too. We are close to them too. Before my brother became Kabiyeesi, all of us used to play. They did things in common. They had businesses together. But he is now in Ife at the Palace. They are in Lagos. Our first born is Sooko Laekan, he is Prince Adegboyega Ogunwusi. He is more in Ife these days. Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi is my elder brother too. We look alike. People used to call me Adetunji Obinrin because we look alike. I bless God for my parents. They kind of brought us together.

How did you take the transition that you’ve been through since your brother became Ooni of Ife?

We still haven’t adjusted. I am still getting used to it by the day. Before he became Ooni in those good old days, anytime I see him, the first thing I do was to put my head on his chest. I am so fond of him. I missed that a lot. Though, we still talk its not like before. When we were growing up, we used to fight a lot. Yes, I miss that too. I miss the way we play and run around the house. The 4 of us are super close. I mean Kabiyesi and his 3 sisters. Now, he is the father of all. I don’t have him to myself anymore.

What has changed about your life since your brother became Ooni?
A lot has changed. I am no longer the Bimpe I used to be. Now, when we go to parties, my sisters we to tell me to comport myself. Because in my normal way I will just jump up and free myself, greeting people. My senior sister, Princess Folashade will say don’t stand up, comport yourself ooo; You know you are now a Princess, you have to comport yourself. If I tell her I want to say something in public when we go out she will tell me to shut up. Its a great transformation. In terms of dressing too. I used to put on my shorts and Tee shirt. Now, I can’t do that. The way I dress now has changed. We wear more of ‘boubou’ now.

Did you ever think that transformation will come?
Seriously, I didn’t know it was going to be this fast. It is a thing I wasn’t that prepared for.
But now we are getting used to it. Now I can’t go to the bus stop to look for a Taxi or Marwa. The way I was free before I am not that free.

How do you cope with a lot of new people who wants to be your friend? How do you choose?
Its a problem. Now, you can’t choose oooo. Everybody wants to be our friends and you have to be everyone’s friend. Now you have to relate with people you don’t know and you have to be nice. Now everybody wants to be my friend on Facebook, on Instagram, Twitter, maybe because of my brother, the Ooni of Ife. What I do in my own little way is to be nice and kind to all those who come my way. As you know, you cannot be perfect.

You and all your siblings are very humble. Why is this so?
We got that from my parents. Though, my parents were not that rich. We were comfortable. We were taught to be contented with what our parents have. The humility comes from my parents. They have taught us to know that any position you hold is transient.

How has the last one and half years of being Ooni of Ife?
Its been good. Its been little challenging. People will always talk. People will complain about his unique style of doing things. That is expected. So far, God has been helping him. I thank God that my father is still alive. God has used him so much to put us through in all we do. I thank God for the wisdom. He has given to my brother, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. It’s been God all the way.

At the end of the day, what kind of a person is Princess Adebimpe?
Hmmmm! How do I describe myself. Its people that will tell you, who you really are. I am who I am. I don’t like to be checked. If you cheat me then you will see the other side of me. I am a little bit protective, most especially about my sister, Princess Folashade. I am like a shield on her because she is soft. I am like a mother. If you treat my sisters badly, I will come out on you like a lion. I am easy going.

Nigerian Pastor Prophesies - ‘Osinbajo Will Be Sworn In Soon, Atiku To Be President In 2019’

General overseer of King of Kings Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Emmanuel Chukwudi has made a strong prophecy that the ailing President Muhammadu Buhari will not return to Nigeria as the President and the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo will be sworn-in the President in his stead in the midst of fiery oppositions.

Prophet Chukwudi also revealed that come next election in 2019, the former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar will emerge as the President of Nigeria.  The Prophet stated this categorically while he was being conferred with a new title by his kinsmen.
Read here:

“I saw Buhari saying that he is no more in charge. Then I saw Osinbajo being sworn in. But the opposition is just too much. He can only last till 2019.He should battle very well not to be removed from office before then. This is not the first time I am saying that Buhari will not pilot Nigeria into 2019, and this is not the first time I am being shown Atiku as the next president.

It’s over three years now that Atiku was first reveled to me.”
“Buhari has handed over power spiritually to Osinbajo. He cannot return to power, in case anyone is expecting him”, the seer said.

A teenage dad abandoned his two-week-old baby son in a shopping mall car park and drove off, CCTV footage showed.

The shocking moment the 18-year-old father placed the infant, in a car seat, on the ground and left the scene is seen on the surveillance video.

Daniel Stephen Mitchell was arrested on Monday afternoon after leaving the newborn in Suisun City strip mall, California. Owners of the Mega Smoke Shop in nearby Sunset Shopping Center noticed the abandonment on CCTV.

A barber working in his shop at the time also noticed the car seat, and when he approached it he was shocked to reportedly see the baby inside, wrapped in a blanket. He called the police after taking the baby inside to safety.

The baby was checked over in hospital as a precautionary measure and handed over to the Child Protective Services.

Later that night however he was flown to hospital as officials spotted abnormalities in his eye, according to reports.

Mitchell was taken into custody after fleeing from a car crash in Fairfield that had happened while police were at the mall, reports said.

Mitchell was booked into jail and faces charges of felony hit-and-run, child endangerment, child abandonment, committing a felony while on bail and possession of suspected cocaine.

He had been arrested previously on charges related to a burglary and was out on bail at the time of the latest incident.

Reports claim the baby's mum did not know about the abandonment when she was interviewed by cops.

The case remains under investigation.

Update! Court Frees Man That Named Dog Buhari

A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Sango, yesterday, dismissed charges filed against the man who named his dog ‘Buhari’ in a community in Ogun state.

Magistrate O. O. Adebo said the prosecutor failed to substantiate his case against Joachim Iroko and consequently struck out all charges preferred against him. Mr. Iroko’s lawyer was ecstatic, yesterday, praising the court for the verdict.

Mr. Iroko, 41, was arrested in August 2016 for causing a breach of peace after he was reported by his neighbour, for alleged insensitivity in Mr. Iroko’s action of naming his dog after the President.

The neighbour, identified as Haliru Umar from Sokoto State, said Mr. Iroko harboured sinister motives when he named his dog Buhari.

The arrest of Mr. Iroko sparked nationwide outrage in August 2016 and critics accused the police of stifling constitutionally guaranteed freedom.

The police denied that Mr. Iroko’s ordeal had anything to do with the president but strictly about the breach of peace complaints received from his neighbour.

The presidency also reacted to the arrest when Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said the president paid more attention to cartoon pages in the newspapers rather than following Mr. Iroko’s case that was generating nationwide furore at the time.

Speaking with Vanguard after the verdict, the suspect, Joachim Iroko said he has been vindicated.

Diezani Madueke lavished $144m on furniture, artworks - revealed

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...The United States of America has revealed how embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, allegedly squandered about $144m, using part of the funds to purchase a yacht, landed properties, furniture and artworks.

According to a 91-page “verified complaint” filed by the US Government before the US District Court, Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, while she was in charge of the oil ministry, Diezani, lived a lavish and privileged lifestyle,” spending “more than one million dollars on furniture, artwork, and other furnishings purchased within the Southern District of Texas, and shipped, in part, to London and Abuja, Nigeria.”

They are hereby seeking an order to forfeit funds and assets worth $144m linked to Diezani.

The US, in the “verified complaint” signed by a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Elizabeth Crispino, said Diezani allegedly acquired the assets with kickbacks from “an international conspiracy to obtain lucrative business opportunities in the Nigerian oil and gas sector.”

The assets, the US stated, were acquired between April 2010 and May 2015 when Diezani was “overseeing Nigeria’s state-owned oil company, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.”

Among the properties, which the US now seeks to be forfeited, are a 65-metre motor yacht, named M/Y Galactica Star; two properties known as 807 and 815 Cima Del Mundo Road, Montecito, Calif; as well as funds in a couple of companies.

Crispino said Diezani’s assets were liable to being forfeited “under 18 U.S.C. § § 981(a)(1)(A) and 981(a)(1)(C),”.

Crispino stated that “Section 1956(a)(2) prohibits transferring funds known to be the proceeds of unlawful activity from a place outside the United States to a place in the United States, with knowledge that the transfer is designed in whole or in part to conceal the nature, location, source, ownership, or control of the proceeds of a specified unlawful activity, including the proceeds of an offense against a foreign nation involving ‘bribery of a public official, or the misappropriation, theft, or embezzlement of public funds by or for the benefit of a public official.”

Man Stabs Woman 119 Times After Finding Out She Was Transgender Minutes After Having S3x

An ex-sailor fatally stabbed a transgender woman 119 times with a 10-inch blade minutes after they had sex - because she confessed she was born a man.

Dwanya Hickerson butchered Dee Whigham after 'losing it' at a hotel room in Mississippi, US.

An autopsy showed many of the stab wounds were to Dee's face. Her throat was had also been slashed three times.

Hickerson was arrested on Keesler Air Force Base two days after killing the nurse at a Best Western Hotel.

A court heard the pair had met up to have sex after talking online for a couple of months.

Hickerson admitted murdering Dee. He said he flew into a rage after the pair had sex and then she revealed she had been born a man.

"I lost. I lost it," he told the court.

Before his sentencing, Hickerson apologised to Whigham’s family, the Sun Herald reports.

"I apologise to the family," he said. "I really, really wish it had turned out differently. If I could take it back, I would."

Hickerson could have faced the death penalty if he had gone to trial on the original charge of capital murder.

Because of his early plea, Hickerson was sentenced to 40 years in prison with no possibility of parole.

Vaginal Ring Preventing HIV Will Be Tested In Africa After Girls In US Like It

Researchers in the United States say a trial in which American teenagers used a vaginal ring to prevent HIV infection has proved successful.

A further such study will now be run with teenagers in Africa.

The girls used a flexible plastic ring, embedded with anti-retroviral drugs, which was changed every month over a six-month period.

It's part of a drive to develop a device which women can use to protect themselves from HIV infection, so they don't have to rely on men to wear condoms.

Reporting the development at a conference about HIV science in Paris, the researchers said they were encouraged that the girls used the ring and said they liked it.

Women and girls aged 15-24 account for a fifth of all new HIV infections globally.

Nearly 1,000 are infected every day in sub-Saharan Africa.

22-Year Old Groom And His Parents Arrested For Tying The Knot With 5-Year Old

Police raided a wedding between a 22-year-old man and a five-year-old girl - but were too late to stop it.

Officers swooped on the man and others involved in the celebrations in the village of Raman Shar in Dakhan Town, Pakistan.

However, police are said to have been moments too late to the event and the nuptials had already been completed.

Those arrested include the groom Habibullah Shar, the registrar Molvi Kifayatullah Bhutto, 40, and the father of the groom Gul Meer.

The bride was also taken into custody along with her mother, Pakistani newspaper Dawn reports .

All those accused and the bride were to be prosecuted under the Early Child Marriages Restraint Act of 2013.

The action was later said to be targeting the groom, his parents and parents of the girl under sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Child marriage is considered a punishable offence in Sindh and the age of consent to this is 18 years old.

The maximum jail term is three years.

In May, The Mirror reported on how a child bride aged just five and her nine-year-old groom were rescued by welfare officials as they stood at the altar.

The shocking marriage between the two children had been due to go ahead in Mambapur, Telangana state, central India, as part of a reported caste ritual.

Footage showed officials from India's Child Welfare Department raiding the ceremony and carrying the sobbing girl into protective custody.

Children's rights activist Achyuta Rao from charity Balala Hakkula Sangham said that the parents were conducting the marriage because someone had died recently in the household.

That made the property bad luck until a happy event took place.

He said: "As per their custom, no relative will enter their house after the death of a family member, unless they perform an 'auspicious event' and celebrate it."

See the three women who raped a pastor

Three young women were arrested and arraigned before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Lungile Ncube this week after they allegedly raped a pastor at a local church in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

The suspects, Sandra Ncube,21, Riamuhetsi Mlauzi, 23 and Mongiwe Mpofu, 25 who reside at the same house in Cowdray Park suburb, were charged with aggravated indecent assault. They were remanded in custody to August 7 for continuation of trial.

Prosecuting, Mr Petros Shoko said the complainant had gone to the women?s residence to demand money from Mlauzi sometime last week.

On July 14, 2017, at around 7PM, the complainant went to the three accused persons residence to collect his money from Riamuhetsi Mlauzi, which she owed him, said the prosecutor.
The court heard that the complainant was ushered into the house before Ncube held him by the waist and fondled his private parts.
hThey forced him to lie on the bed and undressed him. Ncube sat on his chest and he tried to push her away. However, Mlauzi, who was in the same room, held his legs together and sat on top, pressing him against the bed, said Mr Shoko.

Mpofu, who was in another room, allegedly brought condoms and placed one on the complainant's manhood. She then allegedly assisted to hold the complainant down as he was resisting.
Ncube had sexual intercourse with the complainant once, without his consent, said Mr Shoko.
During trial, the trio denied raping the complainant but admitted indecently assaulting him.
We were just playing around Your Worship. I did not think that he would take it seriously, said Ncube.

Mpofu distanced herself from the incident and said she had only been called to bring condoms.
I was not part of it. They just called me to bring condoms. We keep condoms around the house and there were some in my room, so I just brought them, said Mpofu.

Mlauzi said she wanted to fix the pastor, whom she accused of having a tendency of walking in on her when she was bathing.
"He always walks in on me bathing and claims to be unmoved as a man of God. I just wanted to see if he was going to be aroused or not. I did not plan to execute the whole rape thing, Your Worship.
Magistrate Ncube asked Mlauzi what she aimed to benefit from the attack, and she said she just wanted to prove to the pastor that he had feelings like everybody else.
I wanted him to see that he was not special and was not immune to sexual arousal. When I touched him, he immediately got aroused. And that is all we wanted to see, she said.
The matter was reported at Cowdray Park Police Station and the complainant was referred to Mpilo Central Hospital for a medical examination. A medical report was produced in court as evidence.

I was shocked when i saw President Buhari in London - Gov. Rochas Okorocha

Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha was on Channels TV last night where he spoke on his visit to President Buhari in London last Sunday. According to him, he was shocked to see a healthy man that still had his good sense of humor. Okorocha said prior to his visit, there were speculations that President Buhari was so ill he was on life support but that to his greatest shock he saw a man who was so healthy who is fit to return home any moment from now.

“To my greatest shock, when I arrived in London with the Party Chairman and the governors of Kano, Kaduna, Kogi, Nasarawa and the Minister of Transport, we saw a man that was full of humor as usual and we were wondering whether it is the same person that they are talking about. All I can say is that Mr. President is in good health, he is not on life support and he will soon be back. And he is not in the hospital. I was thinking I was going to see him in the hospital, but he is not even in the hospital. He was at home relaxing and having a good time.

When I made inquiries as to why he is still waiting, why he is still not back home, all I got as an answer is that he is just taking some vitamins to increase his appetite to regain his lost weight. But I think the man is in good spirits and I think the prayers of Nigerians have worked to a great extent and President Buhari is coming back in full force to resume his work. What Nigerians should be talking about now is what should be his next line of action.”

On when President Buhari will return back home, the governor said “The Buhari I saw two days ago will be back to Nigeria as soon as possible. I don’t think that he will stay longer than necessary, unless for some other reasons. I saw a man that was quite healthy, in high spirits and very sound – except for the fact that he has lost a bit of weight.”
