Singer Michelle Williams gets engaged to her pastor boyfriend, reveals how he saved money for 11 years to buy a diamond ring (PHOTOS)

Despite only dating for one year, pastor Chad Johnson saved up his hard earned money for 11 years to buy the engagement ring he used to propose to Destiny Child’s singer Michelle Williams.Johnson popped the question to the Destiny’s Child singer on March 21 while on vacation in Pebble Beach, California, where the two first met. Chad proposed to Michelle by presenting the “Say My Name” singer with a stunning 5-carat diamond ring from L.A. jeweler, Denis Mahgerefteh.
However, the 40-year-old pastor reports he had been saving up for the engagement ring long before he ever met his future wife.
On my 30th birthday, everybody came and celebrated me. The next day, I woke up alone. I was so lonely. I had a little pity party. My personal life was lacking so much, and I was living so single.
Recalls Johnson, who turns 41 in July.So as a response to that moment, I opened up a ring account, and for 11 years, I put $150 into a ring account. Every month I’d put money into that account; I would just say, ‘My wife’s coming; this is for my wife.’ I did that for 11 years.
Still, he admits it wasn’t always easy:
At 6, 7, 8 years in, I wanted to pull that money out and spend it on a sports car!
