A 10-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and impregnated by her elder brother has given birth to a baby boy.
The child, who cannot be named, welcomed her child via a caesarean section in a hospital in Florencia, Colombia. Both the little boy and his young mum are reportedly doing well.
The alleged rape happened in Puerto Leguizamo, Putumayo, where the girl lived with her parents. According to local media, the girl's parents did not want to report their son to the local authorities.
Hospital director Camilo Diaz told local media:
According to the information we have received from the police, the minor became pregnant after she was sexually abused by a family member, apparently her brother.
The investigation into the claims of child abuse continues.
