The police in Ondo state have reportedly arrested the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, for hitting a member of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the school, Abiodun Ademola Atunbi, with his car at the main campus of the school at Oba’nla in Akure this morning.
Members of staff were said to have gathered at a particular place to pray when the incident happened. Police Officers from the Okuta Elerinla Police Station arrested Prof. Daramola shortly after the accident occurred.
Aggrieved members of the staff gathered and staged a protest in the school. Some of them set up bonfire within the school campus.
The Vice Chancellor and members of staff of the school have been at loggerheads for a while, with some of them calling for his removal from office.
