Lobatan! Presidency to punish official who plagiarised Obama's quote in President Buhari's speech...

The Presidency has responded to reports that President Buhari plagiarized president Barack Obama's speech at the launch of "Change Begins With Me" reorientation campaign in Abuja last week

A part of President Buhari's speech (right) contained largely the same arrangement of words and emotional outburst that President Obama used in his 2008 victory speech (left) after he was elected the first American black president. Reacting to the report, Senior Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba, says the official responsible for the speech will be sanctioned

Below is the statement issued by Shehu Garba Shehu, SSAP Media and Publicity to the President:

The Presidency wishes to respond to a story on alleged plagiarism in a Presidential Speech that has been trending for most of today.
The Presidency observed that the similarities between a paragraph in President Obama’s 2008 Victory Speech and what the President read in paragraph nine of the sixteen-paragraph while inaugurating the “Change begins with me” are too close to be passed as coincidence. There was a mistake by an overzealous administration staff and we regret that this has happened.
A Deputy Director in the Presidency has accepted responsibility for the insertion of the contentious paragraphs even when a query to him was being typed.
This serious oversight will be investigated thoroughly and appropriate punishment meted.
The Presidency, once again regrets this unfortunate incident. Measures have been put in place to ensure that this does not happen again.
President Muhammadu Buhari admonished Nigerians to move past incident and focus on the message of change which the country needs in order to restore our cherished value systems.

See the 8 new conditions JAMB that all universities must stick to in admitting students...

Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede on Friday said the agency will ensure candidates are not mistreated by their preferred universities.

He also listed eight conditions that tertiary institutions must follow when admitting students.

Mr. Oloyede spoke at Baze University, Jabi, Abuja at the first Extraordinary Technical Committee meeting on 2016 Admissions to First Choice Institutions.

He said the only difference in this year’s admission process is the policy that there should be no written post-UTME test.

Mr. Oloyede insisted that as a referee, his agency would not allow arbitrariness by institutions in the admission process.

“JAMB will resist such arbitrariness and illegal introduction of extraneous factors which were not contained in the published advertisement made available to the candidates.

“We should be able to explain to every Nigerian child who had applied for admission, why s/he was not admitted into his/her institution of choice,” he said.

According to him, the right of Senate or Academic Board of each institution on admissions of candidates is subject to the following conditions:
a. Guidelines stipulated by proprietors of the institutions
b. 60:40 (Science/Art) ratio for conventional universities
c. 80:20 (Science/Art) ratio for non-conventional universities
d. 70:30 (Technology/Non-technology) ratio for National Diploma Awarding Institutions
e. Use of 2016 JAMB, UTME results’ print-out for all candidates
f. Adherence to published subject combinations of various courses as specified by the Senate/Academic Board and included in the 2016 JAMB brochure
g. Adherence to the 2016 Admissions quota as prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies (NUC, NBTE, NCCE)
h. (For Federal universities) The quota stipulated by the Federal Executive Council concerning Merit, Catchment and Educationally less developed states, should be complied with.
Mr. Oloyede stated that the deadline for approved institutions’ admission panels was still November 30, 2016.

He also said the second Technical Committee Meeting would take place at Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Imo state on November 14, 2016.

Omg! Indian husband cuts off wife's nose over failed dowry payment...photo

A distraught wife in India will be scarred for life after her husband of eight years allegedly cut off her nose because her family couldn’t afford a marriage dowry.

Kamlesh Rathore, 25, from Shahjahanpur, in Uttar Pradesh, northern India, said her husband, Sanjeev Rathore, 27, had been demanding a dowry of Rs 50,000 (£550) ever since they got married.

A dowry is part of Indian custom and is either cash, jewellery or land that the bride's family gives to the groom as a condition of any marriage.

Kamlesh said: ‘He harassed me every day for the dowry. He was constantly demanding Rs 50,000.
I repeatedly told him that my father is very poor and he cannot afford such an amount but he did not listen and used to threaten that he’ll chop off my nose. He has beaten me for years. He’s used belts, slippers, sticks and has always tortured me. He used to accuse me of working as a prostitute and threaten to sell me. He was always drunk. During our eight years of marriage he was very harsh with me,’ she said.

On September 14, Kamlesh was cooking dinner when Sanjeev started shouting and demanding money again.

She said that suddenly, from behind, her in-laws grabbed her and held her down while her husband allegedly chopped off her nose.

‘They all grabbed me tightly. I could not move.

'And then out of nowhere I saw a knife and he chopped off my nose,’ Kamlesh recalled.

Kamlesh, who has a six-year-old daughter, said her husband and in-laws fled as soon as they chopped off her nose. His last words were: ‘You’ll now be like this forever’.

Kamlesh quickly called her parents who lived nearby and they rushed her to the nearest medical centre.

She was still bleeding heavily when she arrived at the primary health centre, in Shahjahanpur, where doctors were only able to dress the wound.

They could not re-attach the nose as Sanjeev had taken it with him.

Superintendent Manoj Kumar, at Khutar police station, in Shahjhanpur, said the husband and family are on the run.

He said: ‘An FIR (First Information Report) is registered. 'This is a dowry case and the family were demanding money.

'We’re still chasing the husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister and brother-in-law.

'Until we catch them we cannot say any more.’

Tragic! This TV Star dies while filming soap scenes..photos

Beloved Brazilian TV actor Domingos Montagner has died while filming scenes for a hit soap.

The 54-year-old, who starred in hugely popular soap opera Velho Chico, drowned in the Sao Francisco river.

According to the BBC , Domingos had been swimming with actress Camila Pintanga in the north-eastern state of Sergipe following a day of shooting when he ran into trouble.

Camila said he was dragged away by strong currents. Although she called for help, locals initially assumed they were acting out a scene in the soap.

A local police chief said: "They thought they had chosen a safe spot to swim, but that is one of the most dangerous areas in the town of Caninde and usually avoided by locals.”

Rescue teams reportedly found his body around 300 metres underwater from where he drowned.

Domingo, who was born in Sao Paulo, started out in the circus before embarking on a career in telvision. He has three children with wife of 14 years Luciana Lima.

Nigerian migrant rescued from the Mediterranean confesses "Boko Haram came and took my father"...

A Nigerian migrant, who was among African migrants rescued recently by search and rescue agency (MOAS) claims she fled Nigeria because Boko Haram terrorists attacked her home and took her father away.
"My name is Faith and I'm 20 years old. I lived in Nigeria. The situation is disastrous. Boko Haram came and took my father. They terrorized us every day. So I decided to flee. It took me three months to get to Libya," she said
"We were a group of 26 persons. In the desert we had a lot of problems. It was extremely hot and we had not enough water. Six from our group died. When we arrived in Libya we had even more problems. Every time the police saw us they shot at us. So when we had the chance to get on the rubber boat, we took it. I was praying to God the whole time. My biggest dream is to get to Italy and live a safe life without fear."

Tragic! Syrian Rebels blew themselves up while taking a selfie..photos

This is the horrifying moment a Syrian rebel blows himself and his fellow freedom fighters up by taking a selfie with a phone connected to a bomb.

The footage, which has not been verified, shows members of the Free Syrian Army gathering around a camera. The eight men are seen sitting in front of a rebel flag as they sing into a microphone, with two rifles propped up in front of them.

The 30-second clip shows one of the men picking up a phone and holding it up to take a picture of him and the other rebels. A clicking noise can be heard moments before a sudden blast rocks the room, with flames and smoke obscuring the camera's view.

When the dust clears, the camera has been blown backwards onto the floor and is pointing towards a ceiling fan.

The rebels can be heard shouting 'Allahu Akbar' - meaning 'God is great' - as they jump over the camera to help their comrades.

The fact that the camera was not destroyed and that the other men in the room appear uninjured suggest the bomb may have been smaller than others seen used by rebels and ISIS in Syria.

It is not known if anyone was injured or killed in the blast.

Shocking Scene! Man goes to visit his friend and found his chopped up body in a sack and bucket at his hut (graphic photos)

A man saw the scariest scenes yesterday, September 15th, when he went to visit a friend who lived in a sugar cane plantation in Udon, Thailand.
Teerayut Promkhao, 40, called out to his friend thinking he was still asleep in the early morning hours. But he was not in his bed under the mosquito net, reported Daily News.

So he went to the kitchen area and found a trail of blood leading outside. His friend's head and torso was stuffed in a fertilizer sack.
Next to that were his friend's arms severed at the shoulder and legs cut off at the knee. These four limbs were stuffed in a blue bucket. Two large kitchen knives were laying about.
He rode off in a panic and called the cops. The grisly murder happened about one kilometer from the village of Non Sawan.
The dead man was identified as 50-year-old Panya Thongsri, who was looking after the plantation for his wife who was working in Korea.
Police found a red bicycle at the scene that they think belongs to the murderer. He is believed to have rode off on the victim's Honda Click motorbike. Rice was still steaming on the stove.
Huay Luang police think that the murderer cut up the body and intended to conceal it but was disturbed by someone nearby tending their fields. So he fled on the victim's motorcycle.
He had attacked the victim from behind so violently that his brains were splattered over the ground.
Various witnesses told stories of disputes between the victim and his wife and other members of his wife's family over the ownership of the land. The disputes centered around alleged favoritism shown to the victim and his wife over other members of the wife's extended family.
The victim's younger brother said that Panya had told him of a previous attack by relatives that he had not reported to police.
Police are studying DNA evidence and CCTV footage in the area to determine the identity of the murderer. They are convinced that it is a close relative they are after.

Shocking! See the notorious child trafficker known as 'Madam Cash' and some of the resued abducted children in Delta State

Abigail Nwakama also known as Madam Cash and a popular pastor Chinedu Strongman (pictured) were arrested last weekend for operating a kidnapping ring.

According to Ada Ogbonna who shared the photos on Facebook along with unsavory facts about the mother of four:
"Look at the faces of child kidnappers in asaba,  Delta state. The lady, madam Abigail, , madam cash, is a mother of four runs a drinking parlor, but child trafficking pays her more. The man is a pastor and madam cash works for him.
Madam cash has girls that does her dirty job and she pays them. I saw a woman I know and she was looking so haggard, I enquired and learnt, that two months ago, her brother's son that's staying with her was stolen, on their street. I got home and was trying to caution a neighbor that has kids just like me and the pix above was shown to me. So many questions kept popping into my head.
Instead of this madam Cash, stealing people's kids why didn't she sell hers., or better still, gather girls that born and want to sell. Why put a fellow mother like her into an emotional torture. The worst part is, the pastor, said that out of the 13 kids they brought that 3 have died. The little kids in the other pix are all stolen children.

Tragic! This 13-year-old black boy with toy gun shot dead by white policeman in Columbus, Ohio..photo

A 13-year-old black boy has been shot dead by a white Ohio police officer for pulling out a toy gun while he was being chased after a $10 theft.

Ohio authorities on Thursday stated that the Columbus officer, Bryan Mason, who was responding to a report of a $10 armed robbery shot Tyre King, an eighth grader, multiple times on Wednesday night, September 14th after the youngster pulled a BB gun from his waistband that looked "practically identical" to the weapon carried by officers.

It remains unclear if the boy had actually pulled out the gun and aimed it at the Mason. The family of the boy, in a statement through its lawyer, said officer's version of events was in conflict with numerous witness accounts.

How exactly King acted before he was shot dead is not known at the moment, the family said, and called for an independent investigation. According to AP, a man told officers that a group of young men had demanded money, threatening him with a gun. The victim calmly indicated he didn’t want to make a big deal over $10.
Sirens were heard moments later as police searched for the suspects.

A short time later officers found three males, including King, matching the description of the suspects, police said. While attempting to question them, King and another male fled into an alley.

What happened afterwards remains sketchy. Ohio Police claim Mason fired after King pulled out the look-alike gun from his waistband but according to The Columbus Dispatch newspaper, 19-year-old Demetrius Braxton, the other boy who was with King, said police asked them to get down but King ran before being shot.
Braxton also admitted the boys committed the robbery.
"I didn't think a cop would shoot. Why didn’t they tase him?" Braxton told the newspaper.
Police has not officially identified Braxton as the other boy who was with King. It only said it had questioned the other male, who was later released

King was taken to a children's hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He played several sports, including football, and was in the young scholars program at school, according to Sean Walton, the lawyer for his family.

Police records show that in 2012, officer Mason, a nine-year veteran of the force shot and killed a man who was holding another person at gunpoint. Columbus Dispatch said investigators cleared him. Mason has been sent on leave while the shooting is investigated.

At a news conference, Police Chief Kim Jacobs displayed a photo of the BB gun like the one Tyre had.
"Our officers carry a gun that looks practically identical to this weapon," she said. " As you can see, it looks like a firearm that could kill you."
Mayor Andrew Ginther has called for the community to come together and questioned why an eight-grader would have a replica of a police firearm.
"There is something wrong in this country, and it is bringing its epidemic to our city streets," Ginther said on Thursday. "And a 13-year-old id dead in the city of Columbus because of our obsession with guns and violence."

Governor Ambode approves N740m compensation for Lekki free zone host communities...

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday approved a total sum of N740,461,432.00 as compensation for host communities of Parcel B comprising Yegunda, Abomiti and International Airport site of the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ).
The State's Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, who announced the approval of the Governor at a media briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, said the development was in line the commitment of the Ambode administration to engender a sustainable cordial relationship between the host communities and investors in the LFTZ.

Ogunleye, who addressed the briefing alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce, Hon. Benjamin Olabinjo; Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon. Muslim Folami; the Managing Director of Lekki Worldwide Investments Limited, Dr. Tunde Sodade, among others, said ever since coming on board, Governor Ambode has seriously and holistically addressed the salient need to compensate the host communities, adding that remarkable progress had been recorded in that regard.

While stating that the State Government has continued to engage the host communities ever since the LFTZ project started in 2004, Ogunleye said the engagement principally centered on the need for the communities to recognize the multiplier effects of the project in terms of employment generation and the value to be added to the socio-economic lives of the people. He said already, modalities were being put in place to ensure hitch-free payment of the approved N740 million, adding that the payment would be effected with immediate effect.

Responding to questions, Ogunleye said the compensation exercise was a continuous process, revealing that N65 million was paid early this year for land owners affected by the ongoing Dangote projects which included petrochemical plant, gas project, fertilizer and refinery project capable of refining 650, 000 barrels of oil per day.

He said before now, the host communities of the 3,000 hectares of land housing the LFTZ Development Agency, a company jointly owned by the State Government and a consortium of Chinese investors, were heavily compensated, adding that more land owners would be compensated in due course at the end of verification and valuation exercise.
"Let me reiterate once again, the commitment of this administration to Community Social Responsibility (CSR) and its readiness to continue to heed the yearnings of our people in the areas covered by the LFTZ and its complementary projects. I also need to assure both local and foreign investors that all our projects in the corridor are fully on course and as an administration, we are fully committed to them.
"At this time of economic downturn, our State as the nation and Sub Saharan economic hub is providing this investment platform with huge potentials as the best destination for direct investment. We are providing appropriate road infrastructure to ease the operations of investors in the zone and we will continue to sustain the friendly operating environment that now subsists," Ogunleye said.

Femi Fani-Kayode vents out - "If you want the Igbo to stay & Nigeria to remain one, then treat us all as equals"

In a message addressed to President Buhari, former minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode reacted to the 'Forget about Biafra' statement the President made while speaking with some NYSC members who paid him a visit at his home in Daura, Katsina state during the Sallah holidays. FFK wrote:
"You bathed in the blood of Biafrans, you crushed their bones and stripped away their dignity and self-respect just to keep Nigeria one.
Now you say their children have no right to ask for self-determination simply because you killed their fathers and mothers during the war and shattered their dreams.
Shame on you. If Nigeria was a normal country by now you would have been at the ICC answering charges of genocide and crimes against humanity at the Hague instead of being President.

If you want the Igbo or any other southerner to stay and if u want Nigeria to remain one then treat us all as equals, offer our children and our people equal opportunities and a public apology and pay full compensation for all the atrocities that you, your people and your forefathers have committed against the people of the south and the northern minorities over the last two hundred years.

In addition to that you must defeat, destroy and dismantle Boko Haram, decommission your Fulani militias and herdsmen and put a stop to the marginalisation, threats, genocide, ethnic cleansing and mass murder of our people.

It is after you have done all these things that you can make an appeal to us for the continued unity of Nigeria.

Outside of that the Nigerian baby you are carrying and saying that you killed and died for during the civil war is already dead. It is only waiting to be buried."
