A 21-year-old male student who arranged to have sex with a 14-year-old boy was nabbed by paedophile hunters when he turned up to meet the boy and it was caught on tape.
Fakhri Anang, 21, who is originally from Indonesia but living in Newcastle, contacted a profile he believed belonged to a 14-year-old boy called Zen and asked the "boy" to have sex with him. What he did not know is that the profile was created by paedophile hunters to catch offenders.
"I feel like sex now," Fakhri told Zen then asked him if they could have sex.
Zen informed Fakhri he was 14 years old yet Fakhri, who claimed to be 24 years old, continued to pressure him for sex. He continued to communicate with him and invited him to his house, offering to pay for his taxi. They agreed to meet on May 2 and on that day, Zen informed Fakhri that had arrived near his address. When Fakhri went out to meet him, he was confronted by a member of Guardians of the North.
He pleaded with them not to call the police and kept apologising, claiming he's not that old, that he's only 19.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, don't call the police, I'm lonely and I need sex," he said.
When arrested and interviewed by police, Anang accepted his guilt and said his intention was to have a sex act performed on him. When questioned about the boy's age he said:
"I know it wasn't right but I was horny."
Fakhir previously admitted attempting to meet a child following grooming. He was sentenced to eight months in prison suspended for two years after Nick Peacock, defending, told the court that Fakhir was in the UK on a student visa and would be leaving the country at the end of August. Peacock pleaded that a custodial sentence would ruin what he has worked so hard for the last few years.
