Up to 200,000 people have been left without water for more than three days due to a burst main.
And now residents and businesses in the North East are facing even more delays after a “catastrophic failure” at the Staleen treatment plant.
Irish Water told RTE's Morning Ireland it could be Thursday before water supply is restored to some areas in Louth and Meath.
That would make it nearly seven days since the issue came to light.

Ireland’s largest town Drogheda has been without water since Friday – along with several towns and villages – forcing people to queue at standpipes in the street to fill containers.
While Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda has remained supplied, homes and businesses are being forced to ration.
