I’m Under Pressure To Keep My Father’s Dream Alive –Paul Play Dairo

Paul Play has finally decided to bring back the good days and memories of his father, IK Dairo, through his music.
In a recent chat with Sunday Scoop, the Angel of My Life singer stated that his father’s fans had refused to let him be.

He said, “My father’s fans don’t want to leave me. Each time I run into them, there is so much pressure on me to keep his dream alive. Also, the old ones complain that they don’t have music for their generation anymore. The songs we have now are for young people.

“When I go to wedding ceremonies, I see old people being left out of the fun. I want to put out music for people in their sixties to enjoy.

Right now, there is a big vacuum in Yoruba highlife music and the space has to be filled again. I feel this is an opportunity for me to take up the challenge and entertain my fans who like the genre.”

Paul Play also said he had plans to release a double-album. “I will release an album that is a combination of highlife and gospel music, which people knew my father for. Then, I will release RnB and urban music albums, which people know me for.

I am trying to kill two birds with one stone this time. I recently released two songs, Radio and Folake. The latter is IK Dairo’s sound all through. Regardless of my wish to do my father’s music, I cannot stop doing love songs because that is what I know how to do best. I miss my fans and staying away from music for so long has affected me. But my music is unique and there is nothing impossible,” he said.
