According to a Press Statement released by the Special Adviser, Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, no life was lost in the accident and the victims are currently undergoing treatments at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.The Edo State government has also reportedly promised to foo the medical bills of the victims involved in the accident.

The Statement Reads:
A bus assigned to the Press Unit of the Edo State Government House was involved in an accident on its way from an official assignment, today, Wednesday March 14, 2018A number of people in the bus and three other vehicles that were involved in the accident, including a medical doctor and a mother and child, sustained varied degrees of injuries, and are currently receiving treatments at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).An official of the state government has been sent to the hospital to ascertain the degree of injuries sustained by the victims and we are also in touch with the doctors managing the victims, who are in stable condition.The Edo government has promised to pay the medical bills of all the victims. In a similar incident, a vehicle belonging to the convoy of the wife of the Ondo state governor, Mrs Betty-Anyanwu-Akeredolu, was involved in an accident that killed 2 undergraduate students of the Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo State on Tuesday.
A Government House source revealed that the accident occurred when Mrs. Akeredolu’s convoy was leaving her monthly empowerment programme in Ondo town.
He blamed the accident on overspeeding by drivers in the convoy of the governor’s wife.
“The convoy of the Ondo State Governor’s wife was involved in a fatal motor accident today (Tuesday) around 2pm and two persons, who were students, died. The driver conveyed people, who were mostly journalists. The driver, later identified as Mr. Jimoh, veered off to hit the students,” said the source.
