Of the 1,045 scholars that served as National Youth Service Corps [NYSC] members in Gombe State, 12 were awarded with honours and other commendations on Thursday at the passing out parade of the corps members.
According to David Markson, the NYSC State Coordinator, these 12 were selected from the 2018 Batch B stream I outgoing corps members for the honours to recognise them for the various projects they executed during their one year service.
He said: "Seven outgoing corps members received state awards while five got certificates of commendation. Also the overall best female corps member, Ngede Abigail, was awarded the 'first lady' award for emerging the overall best female in community development service.”
Markson further admonished the outgoing corps members to put to good use the skills they acquired during their one year service and also continue to be self-reliant whilst learning to be employers of labour.
