Shockwaves are reverberating across Yorùbáland and the global Yorùbá diaspora following the sudden death of the Baba Ọba (King’s Father) of the famed Oyotunji African Village in South Carolina, USA. The late Baba Ọba, Lukman Arohunfale, a revered socialite and traditionalist, passed away under circumstances already sparking fierce controversy. His death comes just days after he publicly accused the newly installed Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Akeem Adéyẹmọ Owoade, of allegedly ordering his courtiers to beat him mercilessly during a recent courtesy visit to the Oyo palace in Nigeria. NYSC in a statement confirming the development said it will offset the medical bills of the corps member attached to Leadership Newspaper and also monitor his post-discharge health condition.

Narrating how he got shot in the clash that claimed the life of another NYSC member and Channels TV reporter Precious Owolabi, Aliyu said;
”We heard gunshots close to us, while our driver was about to turn, I couldn’t feel my arm, it was then I realised that I was hit by a bullet and I immediately notified my CDS Officer, Mrs Adama Anabel, who called the attention of the NYSC-FCT Management on the incident.”I thank God, NYSC, NYSC-FCT Governing Board and National Hospital Abuja for coming to my aid and for the free medical treatments received.”

It was further learnt that before leaving the National Hospital in Abuja, the Chairman NYSC FCT Governing Governing Board Hajiya Safiya Umar who was represented by Director of Youth Development Mrs Hajarat Ayandele, visited the violent clash victim and presented a token for his welfare.
