Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, has declared he did not collect money from the General Overseer of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, Prophet Alfa Babatunde, whose church was razed over a missing child. It was alleged the monarch was shielding the embattled overseer from facing prosecution over the mysterious disappearance of a year-old boy, Gold Kolawole, in his church.
But the Deji, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyeye Michael, explained that the mob action was borne out of false allegations to tarnish his image. Narrating the monarch’s involvement, he said: “It is on record that the parents of the missing child protested to the Deji’s Palace on November 12, 2019, seeking the monarch’s intervention.
“The Deji intervened and constantly followed up on the case to ensure that justice is served, by inviting the church’s General Overseer, the child’s parents and the teachers in the children section.
“The Deji equally urged security agencies to carry out a thorough and discreet investigation to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the child and bring perpetrators to book.”
Dispelling the allegations against Oba Aladetoyinbo, he stressed that “it is therefore unreasonable, illogical and a total falsehood to accuse the monarch of complicity and attempt to pervert justice.”
