Alaafin of Oyo’s first and oldest wife, Abibat Adeyemi cries after birthday surprise from younger queens (photos, video)

Queen Mother, Abibat Ninhinlola Adeyemi, the first wife of the Alaafin of Oyo HIM Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, shed tears of joy on Tuesday after a surprise from the younger Queens spearheaded by Queen Memunat for her 77th birthday.
Kemi Filani News reports that Iya Adodo, as she is fondly called, is not just a wife but the pillar behind Alaafin Adeyemi as they have been married for over 60 years now. Celebrating Queen Abibat Adeyemi at the birthday surprise, Queen Memunat said “My dearest Queen-mother, remember that you are one of the best things that God has ever blessed me with. You have always believed in me and I promise not to disappoint you. I truly feel so lucky for having you as my Queen-mother. For me, you are the most incredible Queen-mother in the whole universe. Thank you for everything Mom. I love you ma. HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUEEN MOTHER”

As the first wife, the Queen Mother has many traditional roles she plays in the palace and has been described by many as a woman with a large heart and quality characters. She is loving, warm, and accommodating. So enormous are her responsibilities as the first wife that Ayaba Abibat is said to have encouraged Alaafin to marry another wife, and today Alaafin has over 10 wives. They have five children together, three girls and two boys. All of the children are grown and highly successful. They are also blessed with many grandchildren.
