In the letter, which was obtained by The Punch, the activist stated that he is not at war the President Muhammadu Buhari, rather he is only drawing the attention of the administration toward the plight of his people in Southwest. The statement partly reads, "Let it be abundantly clear that I am not at war with President Buhari, the Governors or anybody in government."
Igboho stated that farmers were terrorised by herdsmen and the government did not do enough to protect them. "At some points our people became helpless and they can no longer go to their farmlands again. Scores of farmers were butchered to death in 2021 and the government pretends that all is okay," the letter partly reads.
He urged the federal government to rise up and end the alleged killing of innocent people by criminal Fulani herdsmen in Yoruba land.
Sunday Igboho concluded his 2022 New Year letter by praying to All-Mighty God to bring an end to the killings of innocent persons in Nigeria.
