Nollywood Jubilates Over The Release Of Kkidnapped Actors, Cynthia Okereke And Clemson Cornell

Nollywood is in a joyous state following the release of its members Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornell, who were kidnapped in July.

Esabod Global news reported on July 29 that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) raised the alarm over the sudden disappearance of their colleagues, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornell.

The body stated that the actors had been kidnapped after they left a movie location in Enugu State.

Actors Guild of Nigeria, through the media spokesperson Monalisa Chinda made this announcement via her verified Instagram page, where she further urged other actors to be careful and more vigilant.

According to Monalisa Chinda, veteran actors Cynthia Okereke and Clemson, aka Agbogidi, were reported missing after their family members confirmed they didn’t come back from a film location at Ozalla Town, Enugu State.

She further, via her statement, revealed that the National President of Actors Guild, Emeka Rollas, had asked members to avoid going to the outskirts of cities to film except full security is provided to ensure safety.

In a follow-up post, the AGN revealed that the kidnappers had demanded thousands of dollars.

It was reported that the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, was mocked by the abductors over the ransom raised thus far.

The abductors mocked him on Monday, August 1, when he told them that N1.2 million had been raised rather than the $100,000 demanded.

Rollas stated that the kidnappers ordered other Nollywood stars to contribute towards paying the $100,000 ransom.

He said, “This is to brief you about the happenings over five days now on our two colleagues abducted a few days back. The situation still remains the same but we are believing God to do His miracles and wonders at this point in time.

Yesterday, while talking to the abductors, we were trying to explain to them that we were putting some funds together, we were contributing. We said that we had about N1.2 million. And they started laughing at us.

They started mocking us and saying ‘all those your celebrities posting on Instagram, how much have they contributed?’ Immediately, it got to me that these people are watching us. It is not the best time to circulate this information on Instagram.”

In a new update, AGN confirmed the release of the Nollywood stars.

Sharing the good news on her Instagram page, Monalisa Chinda appreciated all who participated in aiding their release.

“It has ended in praise. Thank you all so much! God bless you Fan. Bloggers…do this association good by reposting their release”.
