Court jails two TikTokers for indecent content in Kano

A Magistrate Court in Kano has sentenced two TikTok users, Ahmad Isa and Maryam Musa, to one year in prison each, for sharing videos perceived to be offensive to religious and moral values.

 

The Kano State Censorship Board had earlier arrested the duo, accusing them of violating public decency through their social media posts.

 

During the court proceedings, the prosecutor, Garzali Maigari Bichi charged the convicts with criminal conspiracy and disseminating illicit content online.

 

When the charges were read to them they both pleaded not guilty.

 

The presiding magistrate, Hadiza Muhammad Hassan in his sentencing also gave the convicts the option of fine in the sum of N100,000 and urged them to uphold good conduct.
