“There is absolutely no law that allows a president suspend a Governor” – Falz reacts as President Tinubu declares State of emergency in Rivers State
Nigerian singer Folarin Falana better known as Falz has spoken out following the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State.
Esabod Global News reported on Tuesday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had declared a state of emergency in Rivers state. He said he has taken the decision after evaluating the political crisis in the state, and suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy for six months.
Tinubu also suspended all elected members of the House of Assembly of Rivers State and nominated Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as Administrator to take charge of the affairs of the state.
Reacting to the news via his Twitter page, Falz stated that there is absolutely no law that allows a president to spend a Governor. He noted how a Governor is elected into office and may only be removed by impeachment.
The singer further questioned if Rivers State is in a wa hence the state of emergency or if there is an actual breakdown of public order or a threat to the existence of the Federation.
Rivers State, there is ABSOLUTELY NO LAW that allows a president to SUSPEND a governor. A Governor is elected into office and may only be removed by impeachment.
