Patience Jonathan reveals 'The $15m were gifts from friends and well-wishers over the last 15 years which I saved'

Image result for recent images of patience jonathan
Wife of former Nigerian President, Patience Jonathan has explained in details how she accumulated in 15 years over $15million in bank accounts linked to her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The detail was given in court papers filed by Union of Niger Delta Youth Organisation for Equity, Justice and Good Governance on behalf of the former First Lady, against the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) .

The suit with number FHC/L/CS/1349/2016 before a Federal High Court in Lagos, accuses SERAP of using online, print and electronic media to publish to the public unfounded and malicious allegations that she stole $15m (US), urging for her prosecution.
"The funds in question were legitimate gifts from her friends and well-wishers over the last 15 years which she had been saving in order to utilize to upgrade family businesses and concerns which had been somewhat dormant by reason of the long period of her husband service as a public officer in Nigeria.
"The gifts were given in small contributions by several persons some of whom she cannot even now recall over this period of 15 years sometimes in as small a gift as N250,000 Naira. In order to preserve the value of these funds which she did not require for any purpose at the time she changed them into foreign exchange and kept them as cash for a long period in her home safe in Port Harcourt and Abuja.
"It was when the family home in Otuoke was burnt down by hoodlums under the instigation of political adversaries in 2010 that she began to think about banking these gifts which had now grown to large sums in United States Dollars. In 2010 she therefore summoned one of her husband’s domestic aides, Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel Dudafa to assist her in opening bank accounts into which the funds could be deposited
"Unknown to her the said Dudafa in a bid to be discreet about the owner of the funds decided to bank the funds in the names of companies owned by him. When she discovered this she was constrained to continue with the names of the companies when she was advised that it did not make any difference as to the ownership of the funds since the director of the company would appoint her as sole signatory to the accounts in question
"When in 2016 Dudafa was arrested and detained she had no fear for the funds as she realized that the funds could not be attributable to him once it was discovered that she was the sole signatory to the said accounts. It was therefore a rude shock to her when she discovered that a no transaction order had been placed on the accounts by the EFCC in the belief that the funds belonged to Dudafa.
"She instructed her solicitors to further write to the EFCC to inform them that the funds belong to her and that they formed a part of her legitimate earnings over the last 15 years. It was this letter that was leaked by the EFCC to the media that became sensationalised and led to the plaintiff’s vilification and attack by ignorant persons who had no information about the matter
"SERAP is playing to the public gallery in order to gain the notoriety it has achieved over the past years. SERAP has done this mostly by intervening in high profile issues without regard to the rights of persons it claims to protect. SERAP jumped into the fray of ignorant accusations being made against Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan in the public media and has begun a campaign of calumny against her using online, print and electronic media to publish to the public unfounded and malicious allegations that she stole the funds in question and ought to be prosecuted.".

Female Judge Ofili-Ajumogobia in fake hospital saga to escape EFCC

A Federal High Court judge, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, has been busted by detectives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in a hospital admission racket in Lagos.

Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia on Wednesday told EFC officials by phone that she was on admission in a Lagos hospital in Ikoyi, as an excuse why she could not respond to the anti-graft agency’s invitation for interrogation in the last two days.
Curiously, Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia, claim she was admitted into the "intensive care unit" of Golden Cross Hospital on Bourdillon Road in Ikoy. Funny enough, an attempt by EFCC agents to pay her a “courtesy call” shows that she had not been to the hospital since October 13, 2016.
Five other judges, Mohammed Nasir Yunusa, Hyeladzira Ajiya Nganjiwa, Uwani Abba-Aji, Justice Agbadu James Fishim and Musa Haruna Kurya had responded to EFCC invitations.

Some of the judges were accompanied by their lawyers and were reported to be cooperating with EFCC operatives investigating alleged corruption in Nigeria's judiciary.

EFCC detectives, however, found that a medical staff of the hospital was trying to insert the name of Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia into their records as their patient.

When they could not find her in the hospital they called her on her mobile phone to ask where she was; she restated that she was in the intensive care unit. She cut off the call as soon as EFCC officials told her they have searched the private hospital and couldn’t find her.

According to SR, EFCC officials said the medical director of the hospital has been invited to the anti-graft agency's office in Ikoyi to explain his role in the saga.

A couple pleads guilty for enslaving a Nigerian nanny for two years...photo

A Nigerian couple in Texas is charged in relation to enslaving their Nigerian nanny from Sept. 29, 2013, through Oct. 10, 2015, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, October 20th in the Houston Federal courtroom.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson said Sandra Nsobundu, 49, pleaded guilty to unlawful conduct with respect to documents in furtherance of forced labor, while her husband, Chudy Nsobundu, 57, pleaded guilty to visa fraud.
For two years, the couple, who are naturalized U.S. citizens, forced the woman to work without her passport and visa. the Nsobundus also knowingly enforced a scheme to cause the woman to believe that failure to perform the labor services would result in serious harm. They also threatened abuse of law and the legal process.

The woman was not paid and her movement was restricted to the Nsobundus' residence or two short walks a day with the children. The Nsobundus also frequently yelled at, scolded and berated the woman for moving too slowly or failing to care for the children in the manner they wanted. The Nsobundus also threatened to send the woman back to Nigeria if she didn't comply with their labor demands.

The U.S. Attorney's Office is seeking restitution in the amount of $129,108 to the victim, saying that the Nsobundus owe that amount in back wages. The Nsobundus previously agreed to pay the woman 20,000 Nigerian nairas, or $100 a month. The court said the Nsobundus never paid the woman for any of her work in the United States.

The Nsobundus falsified the visa application for their nanny when she came to the United States from Nigeria. They lied about her age, her reason for travel and her marital status, among other things. They also hid the fact that she would be working for the family as a housemaid and nanny under conditions not in compliance with U.S. labor laws.

After getting the woman's visa, the Nsobundus paid for the woman to get to the United States from Nigeria. Once here, Sandra Nsobundu took the victim’s passport and copies of her bank statement with the intent to violate the forced labor statute.

The victim was rescued Oct. 10, 2015 following a tip to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center.

Sandra Nsobundu faces a maximum of five years in prison and Chudy Nsobundu faces up to 10 years in prison. Both could also face up to a $250,000 fine. They were allowed to remain free on bond pending sentencing, which is set for Jan. 4

Shocking! Two Nigerian currency smuggling suspects caught at MMIA with €325,640, $30,000 cash arrested by NDLEA...photo

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized €325,640 and $30,000, totaling about N175 million, being smuggled into Nigeria from Greece and Austria. Two suspects identified as Edos Nicholas and Hallowell Prince Lovely,, both from Edo State have been arrested in connection with the smuggled currencies.

According to a statement by the spokesman, Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, the suspects concealed the money inside envelopes and shoes, which were seized at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos during the inward screening of passengers on a Turkish Airline flight.

Confirming the seizures, the NDLEA Commander at the Lagos airport, Ahmadu Garba, said that the money was found during a routine search of passengers.
"During the inward screening of passengers on a Turkish flight, we discovered €325,640 and $30,000. Two suspects, Edos Nicholas, found in possession of €279,190, and Hallowell Prince Lovely, found in possession of €46,450 and $30,000, were also apprehended," Mr. Ahmadu stated.
Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah has directed the Director of Assets and Financial Investigation of the Agency, Mrs. Victoria Egbase, to take over the investigation.
Abdallah explained that criminal groups seek to conceal the origin of illegally obtained money, noting that it was pertinent for the agency to trace the origin of the money and prevent the introduction of criminal funds into the economy. The statement hinted that preliminary investigation so far revealed that both suspects are frequent travelers who are the target of international drug trafficking organizations, stressing that their sources of income must be verified.

Edos Nicholas claimed to be working in a bakery in Austria, but confessed that people in Austria gave him the money that the NDLEA seized.
"The money does not belong to me. I was given it by different people in Europe to give to their relatives. I have been living in Vienna, Austria for over fifteen years," said Nicholas.
The second suspect, Hallowell Prince Lovely claimed that the money found on him belongs to other people and that he was asked to deliver it to the recipients in Nigeria.
"I live in Athens and I work in an African shop. I have lived there for twelve years. The money belongs to many people and some of them are my friends," he said.

Donald Trump says he won't commit to accepting election results

Republican Party U.S presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday, during the third and final presidential debate in Las Vegas said he won't commit to accepting the November 8 U.S presidential election results. Trump in the last one week has claimed that the election process was being rigged against him as even dead people's names had been brought up in the voter's register.
When asked by moderator Chris Wallace if he'll accept the election results, he said;

“I will look at it at the time,” the Republican nominee said, referring to the election results.  When he was further pressed by Fox News moderator Chris Wallace to answer the question directly, Trump said, “I will keep you in suspense.”

But Donald Trump's position is different to that taken by his daughter Ivanka and his running mate Mike Pence. Asked on Wednesday whether her father would concede if he loses, Ivanka Trump said he would accept the outcome of the election.

Earlier this week, Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, said:
“We will absolutely accept the result of the election.”
Trump on Wednesday also said Hillary Clinton should not have been allowed to run for president.
“In that respect I say that it’s rigged,” he said. “She should never have been allowed.”
Clinton responded, calling Trump’s comments “horrifying.”
“I, for one, am appalled someone who is nominee of one of our major parties would question the integrity of our election process,” she said.

62 yr old Swedish woman scammed by a Nigerian man forgives and visits him in Nigeria... photo

62 year old Sweden woman, Maria Frette pictured above has been swindled in another Internet love scam involving a Nigerian. Maria, who is a divorcee, had opened a profile on a dating site and met with a "58 year old Danish man" who eventually revealed himself to be a 24 year old Nigerian man.

Speaking to BBC, Maria who is an arts teacher, painter and arts therapist,‎ said she received a lot of notifications saying people were interested in her and wanted to meet her but she did not bother checking until one day when she took time to and was drawn to the profile of a man who described himself as a Dane raised in South Carolina, USA; a civil engineer working on a contract in England; a widower with a son in a Manchester university.

"I was caught up by the atmosphere and by something in his words," she said.

The pre-amble
Johnny: "I wish I could see through your eyes and see what you like to see"
Maria: "I like to see the truth, and often the truth is more beautiful and greater than people dare to realize"
Johnny: "You talk in parable´s. I can´t wait to see you"
Maria: "I cant understand how you can think so dedicated of me, when you have never met me. That scares me."
"We spent some time writing, then he called from a UK number."
Grette who had lived in different countries across Europe, was surprised that she could not place the man's accent. She mentioned this to him but didn't give it too much thought.
He told her that he was planning for his retirement; had Sweden in mind for a place to settle; owned a house in Denmark inherited from his parents; wanted to leave that to his son, Nick, who was very attached to it, while he looked for a new home for himself in Sweden.
"I wanted to meet him because I liked him," she said. "He had a way and a sweetness I had never known in a man before. And he was innocent in a way that puzzled me."
Grette put all these qualities down to "an old fashioned upbringing and an isolated life - living in hotels and spending his free time on golf courses owing to much travelling".
After three months of communicating, the man agreed to come over and visit her in Sweden. But before that, he and his son needed to make a quick trip to Nigeria for a job interview, he said. Johnny called to let her know that he was at Heathrow Airport. And to say that he had landed in Nigeria. He also got her to speak with Nick. The next phone call was to tell her that he was in a Lagos hospital. They had been mugged, his son shot in the head, and they were without money and papers. Unfortunately, his bank did not have a branch in Africa, he added, so it would take time to transfer money from his UK account. Meanwhile, the hospital management was requesting €1000 to proceed with treatment.
"Honey, I am in the hospital right now using the doctor´s laptop to send you this message so you can know my situation. Honey, if Nick dies I will also die with him, I have been crying, I wish I could call you, I wish I never came here, I will never forgive myself for bringing Nick along with me. I will call you with the doctor´s phone and send you an email later if I have the chanse. Honey, I am happy to hear from you and I am still at the hospital. The doctor said we where lucky we where not kidnapped. The bank does not have a location in Africa, so it will take time to get money and the management are requesting 1000 euros to proceed with treatment. Nick is all I have got and I will not forgive myself if anything happens to him. I am confused, and I do not know where to turn at the moment......"
"I will never forget how I rushed to the Western Union office, trembling while I did the transfer," Ms Grette said.
"All I could think of was to get the two persons in Nigeria out of danger."
The plot developed after that initial transfer. Medical complications called for more money. The doctors demanded more advance fees.
Several thousands of euro later, in what she describes as "coming to her senses", Maria realised that something was amiss.
She stopped responding to his messages.Three weeks after her silence, he called her and confessed. He told her that he was not who she thought he was.
"I said I already knew that. I asked him to tell me his true identity and he did."
He was a 24-year-old Nigerian 419 scammer. He had finished university two years earlier but had no job.
He further described himself as a "devil" who had wronged "a lovely woman".
"He said he had never met anyone like me before, that he had been fighting his feelings for me for a long time. He said his scamming mates had warned him about falling in love with a 'client', that he had ignored them because he trusted me and did not want to lose contact with me."
From this point on, their communication took a new turn. There were no further requests for cash.
"The attraction I started feeling was to the person who was revealing himself to me... It was still him, but with a new name and different age and circumstances," she said.
Johnny sent her a photograph of himself, but Maria was not satisfied with that.
"I wanted to meet him," she said. "I could not live with this relationship unless it was adjusted to reality in all senses."
Unable to get him a visa to travel to Sweden, she made up her mind to go to Nigeria.
In October 2009, Ms Grette travelled to Africa for the first time in her life.
"When I saw him at the airport in Abuja, tears fell over his face, and I knew I had known him all my life."
Ms Grette described her two weeks in Nigeria as blissful, a period during which she and Johnny succeeded in transforming their romantic feelings for each other into a good friendship. She met his friends, many of whom were also scammers. It was while enjoying their company one night in a local bar that she began to wonder how she could make a difference.
"I asked myself what I could do to prevent a situation where healthy, good young men fall into this trap," she said.
An idea came to her two years later, in 2011, after she saw an article on a Nigerian news website about an arts exhibition.
Over the past six years, Ms Grette has arranged for a number of African artists to visit Europe for arts exhibitions, workshops, conferences and competitions. She has assisted them to source international grants and other funding to advance their work. She has also visited Uganda to give talks on art, and is looking forward to another visit to Nigeria scheduled for later this year.
Ms Grette, now 69 and living in Norway, is elated at the opportunity to improve the lives of these young artists.
"Johnny has given me more than he took," she said, "Without him, I would not have met Africa."
When she'd visited him in Abuja, Johnny promised Ms Grette that he would give up scamming.
With her assistance, he left Nigeria shortly afterwards, to study in America.
Although they have not met each other again since, she continued to provide him with financial assistance until he completed his degree a few years ago and got a job in the American oil sector.
They still communicate frequently, updating themselves on each other's lives; and last year, he bought one of her paintings which she shipped over to him in America.
"He is very dear to me," she said.
"He has asked me so many times to forgive him and I told him that the most important thing is to forgive himself."
