- The Story Of The Queen Who Died @ 104
Having gone round the social, political, business and traditional circles on courtesy visits to those that matter since he assumed the prestigious throne, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi can be rest assured that when his dearly beloved paternal grandmother, Queeen Mariani Adeyemi Ogunwusi is finally laid to rest in a few weeks time, he will have hordes of sympathizers who will commiserate as well as mourn his grandmother alongside him.
Weeks after witnessing the coronation of one of her grandsons as the Ooni of Ife, Mama, who was Ooni’s paternal grandmother passed on peacefully in her sleep at the ripe age of 104. Months leading up to her death, she was said to have been very elated and privileged to be alive to witness the coronation of one of her grandsons and one evidence of this was the constant placement of the Ooni’s picture on her chest, either while sleeping or sitting. As is expected, the monarch plans to give her a befitting burial.
Ooni’s grandmother is survived by her only surviving son, Prince Oluropo Ogunwusi and 12 grand children.
The kings grandmother who had earlier lost her second child, Prince Isaac Olufemi Ogunwusi and her husband Prince Olagbaju Joseph Ogunwusi in 1995 and 1988 respectively died at exactly 4:30am in her house in Ile-Ife at the ripe age of 104 years
Its noteworthy to state that late Queen Ogunwusi, fondly called Mama Alaso might have had the premonition of death, as she had in the last one mouth been playing Kabiyesi Ooni’s picture on her chest either white sleeping or sitting always quoted as saying “Olorun o ma seun, o ti je ki ala Ogoji Odun wa di amuse l’oju emi mi. Mo ti wa se tan late pada s’odo re bayi o. Ki n’le so fun Okomi pe Asotele Odun 1974 ti sele o” (God I thank you for making me alive to witness a dream of over 40 years. I am now ready to return to you in heaven for an eternity and be able to tell my husband of this manifestation of our 1974 dream.
