39 yr old Nigerian man jailed for life in Cambodia for drug trafficking

A Cambodian court on Tuesday, May 8, convicted a Nigerian and Romania of cross-border drug smuggling, and sentenced both of them to life in prison.

Romanian man Adrian-Calin Varadi, 40, was caught on Aug. 14, 2016 when he arrived at the Phnom Penh International Airport from Brazil with 4.96 kg of cocaine hidden in his luggage.

Nigerian man Chukwuemeka Ibe, 35, was arrested later that day when he waited at his hotel room to receive the drugs to take them to neighboring Thailand.

The duo are charged with "illegally transporting the drugs" under the country's Drug Law, said a verdict read by Phnom Penh Municipal Court's Presiding Judge Im Vannak.
"The court decides to sentence each of them to life in prison and to fine them 40 million riel (10,000 U.S. dollars) each," the verdict said.
During a trial last month, Varadi confessed to the crime, but Ibe denied the charge, claiming that he did not know the package he supposed to receive was carrying drug.
Under the Cambodian law, the convicts have one month to appeal against the ruling.

See the Nigerian doctor and her husband allegedly who 'trafficked' Nigerian woman to the UK, made her work 18-hour shifts for £20 a week

A Nigerian doctor and her husband have been accused of trafficking a Nigerian woman to the UK before making her work 18-hour shifts and beating her when she asked for higher wages.
Dr Ayodeji Adewakun, 44, and Abimbola Adewakun, 48, are alleged to have paid babysitter Iyabo Olatunji, just £20 a week for looking after their two young children at home in Erith, south east London.

Ms Olatunji, 37, told Southwark Crown Court on Monday, May 8th, that she was also made to work long arduous days cleaning their house before staying late and cooking the couple dinner. She claims that when she asked for higher wages, and was slapped by the couple.

The couple allegedly persuaded Iyambo Olatunji to leave her home in Nigeria to look after their two young children at their three-bedroom home in Erith, southeast London, in 2004. Ms Olatunji, who had worked as a secretary for the local government in Nigeria, was forced to work 18-hour shifts cleaning the house and to share a bed with the youngest child. She also worked for Mr Adewakun’s pastor father as a househelp in the 1990s.

Ms Olatunji, who did not have her own bank account, was originally promised a £450 monthly salary over a 15-month period, jurors heard.

She told the court Ayodeji, or ‘Aunty Ayo’, ‘said she would look after me’.
"She said I would be fine. She said she would pay me money, a salary. The salary would have been higher than the one I was earning in the local government."
The Kent-based doctor promised her new childminder £450 per month in a contract signed by the couple and Ms Olatunji which also set out a range of terms and conditions of her employment which began when she arrived in February 2004.

They included caring for couple’s two young children ‘at times agreed in advance’ during working hours ‘stipulated as Monday to Saturday’ six days per week between 7am and 5pm.
Ms Olatunji denied she was made aware of any duties expected of her outside of her babysitting role and added that she had never even had a bank account set up for her to receive her wages into.
‘I told Aunty Ayo ‘I do not have one’ but she just said ‘I have plans for you’,’ she added.

She said Ayodeji’s brother accompanied her to the British Embassy in Nigeria to get her passport and held onto it until they landed in the UK.

When she first arrived at the three-bedroom house she met the couple’s Hungarian au pair who showed her the children’s nursery, school and local park before leaving a week later with ‘a bad attitude’.
Jurors heard Dr Adewakun spotted Ms Olatunji chatting to the au pair and raged ‘Are you listening to her? She is not happy you are here because she is leaving.

"She is not a good au pair." he said.
The court heard Ms Olatunji, who came to the UK with just five Nigerian Naira in her pocket, was not even treated to a t-shirt she liked during a family holiday to Euro Disney.

On their return, she claimed she was made to get up at 6am to get the children fed and off to school before tidying the home during the day and preparing meals for the evening.

"I am not sleeping at 8pm or 9pm - it is midnight,"said Ms Olatunji.

She recalled that the doctor and her husband sometimes did not return home from work until well after 10pm.
"Sometimes she would speak nicely to me - 25% nice to me, 75% anger,’ Ms Olatunji said. "She did not pay me. Both of them did not pay me, they just gave me £20 on Friday"
She was even told a landline call to her parents back home was ‘too expensive’ and spent some of her wages on Africa Tel calling cards.

Ms Olatunji said she was slapped three times by the doctor when she asked for more money.

The first occasion, coinciding with her birthday, was documented in a diary she kept, which also detailed the lax payment schedule. Jurors heard the babysitter wrote:
"Aunty fight with me today. She slapped my face twice.. The day I will never forget in my life - the first time in history that somebody has slapped my face."
Ms Olatunji claimed she was assaulted again twice before she reported her situation to Mrs Adewakun’s mother.

Dr Adewakun and her husband Abimbola, both deny obtaining services by deception and trafficking a person into the UK for exploitation.

Mrs Adewakun further denies assaulting Ms Olatunji and two further counts of fraud and trafficking a person into the UK for exploitation in relation to a second victim.

The trial continues.

Shocking! This S ex Worker is Just 15 Years Old But She Already Has 3 Kids

In what will come across as a really shocking development, a young girl who is just 15, has admitted to mothering up to three kids.
A 15-year-old Zimbabwean hooker from Hopley has narrated her ordeals which include being deliberately infected with s*xually transmitted diseases by cruel clients.
According to H-Metro, the hooker, whose name has been withheld as she is still a minor, said she joined the world’s oldest profession last year because of numerous challenges.
“I started being a hooker last year in November. And I decided to be a hooker because of the difficulties of life, like even failing to feed myself and also failing to get any food and a place to stay.
“I have so many challenges because I’m an orphan.
“My parents died when I was still in Form 2 that’s when I dropped out of school and started doing this.
During the interview, she looked intoxicated as she expressed herself with a resigned tone of voice.
She also said the risks they face have led to her plea for help so that she can at least leave prostitution as it continues to be more and more dangerous.
“It’s really a difficult life that we live because you get to seek medication many times in your life because the health risks are real.”
Asked how many men she has slept with ever since she started prostitution last year, the girl said “aaah handitorina kana number yacho, vakawandisa.”
This reporter went on to further ask her how much she charges for each s*x session and she said “haa I charge US$1.”
“The men will come and tell you that that’s the money they have.
“I usually operate in bars around here in Hopley but I also go to town, to several bars in a bid to get other clients who may pay more.”
Without giving proof or saying more, the hooker claimed to have three kids saying that her youngest is six months old.
Under Zimbabwean law, s*x with a minor is a crime as one will face allegations of contravening Section 70 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.
And indeed this hooker is a minor but the challenge is that she will not make a complaint as this is her chosen profession.
And one hopes that the pledge made by philanthropist Dr Killer Zivhu through his foundation will come to fruition so that he can help the self confessed hookers especially this child, who is a mere 15 year old.

Update! Stephanie Otobo Replies Apostle Suleman - I Stand By All My Claims

Image result for images of pastor suleiman
Stephanie Otobo has countered a statement by Johnson Suleman’s aide that she claimed to have become ‘born again’ and withdrawn the $5 million lawsuit she filed against the controversial cleric in Canada.
Ms. Otobo stated her stance in a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES on Monday. It was signed by her counsel, Festus Keyamo Chambers.
Ms. Otobo said, “I wish to state the following in reaction. That I could not have promised to withdraw any matter here in Nigeria against Johnson Suleman as he is the one that got me arrested and charged to court in a criminal case. He is the one (as I have read in the Press) that has filed a N1 billion Naira defamation suit against me.
“So, I have no prerogative to withdraw any case here in Nigeria against him and I never said so.”
Ms. Otobo also expressed joy that the court granted her prayers and has summoned some persons and institutions to court to testify against Mr. Suleman in the criminal case he instituted against her.
One of those reportedly summoned is the Managing Director, United Bank of Africa who was reportedly asked to produce Statement of Account No. 2031068488 belonging to Ms. Otobo covering the period 2015 to date.
Also reportedly summoned is the Managing Director, MTN Nigeria Communications Limited, to produce and provide the call logs and text messages exchanged between mobile numbers 08160000616 (belonging to Mr. Suleman) and 07081454058 (belonging to Ms. Otobo) between 2015 and 2017.
The CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission is also to produce record of the identity of the person that registered sim card no. 08160000616 belonging to Mr. Suleman.
The Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria is also to produce and provide the call logs and text messages exchanged between mobile numbers 07081454058 and 08160000616 between 2015 and 2017.
Mr. Suleman was also reportedly asked to produce his International Passport detailing his international travels between 2015 till date, and his Black iPhone 4 which he used between 2015 and 2016.
The Inspector-General of Police was also asked to produce Samsung Phone, Note 7, which was “forcefully seized (without a court order) from me at UBA, Anthony Branch on Friday, March 3, 2017.”
Ms. Otobo added that “I am also moving the court to invite forensic experts to court to analyse all the Nood pictures of his private part and our face-to-face chats of which I did screen shots during our numerous lecherous FaceTime chats. He has been telling barefaced lies that they are photo shopped.
“But I have since challenged him to produce the original pictures from which I “photoshopped” them, but he has been running from pillar to post. He will also explain what his pictures were doing in my private phone in the first place.”
Mr. Suleman’s camp fired the first salvo when they issued a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday.
In the statement, the church’s Communications Manager, Phrank Shaibu, said they received with bewilderment the purported claim by Ms. Otobo that she has become born again and accordingly forgiven Mr. Suleman.
“After besmirching the reputation of a man that she has never physically met, Stephanie Otobo, who filed a suit for $5 million against Apostle Johnson Suleiman in a Canadian court in abuse of court process now claims she is born again and wants to put the whole saga behind her and forget the matter and withdraw the case?” Mr. Shaibu said.
“Not so fast. Where are the explosive incontrovertible evidence she, Festus Keyamo and their team of jeer leaders promised Nigerians? Where are the travel documents she promised to reveal? Where are the Nood pictures she claimed to have?
“The 33 year old officially 23 year old girl who made history by being the only woman to miscarry a baby from her backside rather than her front side (as she claimed) now wants to forgive and forget? Her father called her a liar, her mother called her a liar, her best friend said she was a blackmailer and when given the chance to prove them all wrong she suddenly becomes born again?”
Ms. Otobo’s statement on Monday indicates she never withdrew her claims against the cleric.
But, despite Ms. Otobo’s claims, Mr. Suleman has denied having a relationship with her.
According to a statement by Mr. Shaibu, the pastor denied ever meeting the woman in person, or making any marriage proposal to her. He also denied being involved in Ms. Otobo’s reported arrest on March 3.
But, two letters published quoted Ms. Otobo’s lawyer, Festus Keyamo, as saying that the Canada-based Nigerian started a relationship with Mr. Suleman in 2015 and became pregnant for him in 2016.

Update! Some Chibok Girls Have Refused To Leave Boko Haram Husbands

Some of the schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram from Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State, in April 2014, refused to be part of a group of 82 girls freed at the weekend, one of the negotiators involved in their release has revealed.

In October last year, 21 of the kidnapped girls were released in a deal brokered by Switzerland and the International Committee of the Red Cross while 113 of the girls are believed to be still held in captivity by the terrorists.

A legal practitioner and mediator, Zannah Mustapha, said some of the abducted girls refused to join the train to freedom, fuelling fears that they had been radicalised by the jihadists, and might be afraid, ashamed or even too powerful to return to their old lives.

“Some girls refused to return. I have never talked to one of the girls about their reasons,” said 57-year-old Mustapha, who acted as an intermediary in the latest negotiations between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram, while speaking with Reuters.

“As a mediator, it is not part of my mandate to force them (to return home).”

A Nigerian psychologist, Fatima Akilu, believed that the girls might preferred to identify with their captors instead of embracing freedom.

“They develop Stockholm syndrome, identify with captors and want to remain,” said Akilu, who has run deradicalisation programmes for Boko Haram militants and women abducted by them.

Some are afraid of what to expect, the unknown. We don’t know how much influence their husbands have in coercing them not to go back,” added Akilu, head of the Neem Foundation, a non-profit group aimed at countering extremism in Nigeria.

On his part, Mustapha explained that future talks between the government and the sect would extend beyond the release of the remaining Chibok girls in captivity and focus on negotiating peace in the conflict-hit North-East.

Why release of 82 girls was suspended by sectMedia reports about the 21 Chibok girls released in October 2016, caused the delay in the release of their 82 colleagues, who were left off the hook on Saturday.

A competent source told Punch on condition of anonymitythat the arrangement between the Boko Haram sect leaders and the Federal Government negotiators was that the release of the 21 girls on October 13, 2016 should be kept secret.

The source added, “Unfortunately, I guess somebody who was part of the process was excited at the release of the girls and broke the news to an online medium. The government had no choice but to confirm the development against the wish of the sect leaders.

“With that development, which was seen in the Boko Haram camp as a betrayal of trust, they also refused to release the 82 girls the following Saturday as agreed earlier.”

Meet Husband Who Slept With His Wife’s Dead Body In Their Bedroom & Says Everyone Should Do It

A grieving husband who slept next to his wife’s dead body in their bedroom for six days says he couldn’t bear to see her taken off to a mortuary in a bodybag. He said he was determined to keep her at home with their four children and not hand her over to a funeral director.

The dad now wants to reassure others that staying close to a loved one’s dead body is nothing to be scared of. Russell said he washed and dressed Wendy’s body and placed it into a coffin which he called a “cocoon” in the couple’s bedroom.

Russell said: “Wendy died very peacefully, fully sedated, in no pain in mine and Dylan’s arms with our ever faithful dog Elvis smuggled up right next to her too. “She looked absolutely beautiful, just like she always did in life: no effort, no make-up, just radiant beauty.

“We have been fooled by TV and films into thinking there is something to be scared about with dead bodies  there is not, I can assure you.”

Wendy, 50, was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2006 – just after the couple’s joint 40th birthday  and was told three years ago she had six months to live.

But she shunned chemotherapy and radiotherapy and embraced “natural health”, Russell said.

The couple bought a caravan and travelled round Europe, but in September last year returned to Britain as Wendy’s pain became unbearable.

But she was determined to die at home, and was nursed by Russell, her sons Luke and Dylan Nichols and Russell’s sons Benjamin and Dominic Davison, until her death on April 21.

Russell, also 50, said: “For a long time I have been determined to have Wendy at home when she died.
“I did not want her in the mortuary or handed over to a funeral director, I wanted us to take care of her ourselves at our family home, and have her in our bedroom so I could sleep in the same room.”

He said keeping Wendy at home was like “an emotional decompression chamber”, which helped the family come to terms with her death while she was still there.

Russell said: “The idea of her being taken away in a plastic bodybag hours after death is so alien to us all now we really don’t think we could have taken it.”

Omg! Watch video of parent hang their 8yr old daughter outside for tearing their divorce papers

An 8-year-old girl was hung outside her home and beaten by her own father after she tore up her parents' divorce papers. The child is said to have been unhappy that her parents got a divorce so she threw a tantrum, tore her parents' divorce documents, damaged furniture and broke a bottle of alcohol. At this, the dad punished her by beating her, after which he tied her up outside.

The dad took a video of him punishing the child and sent it to the girl’s mother to spite her.

Upon receiving the video, the girl’s mum took the clip to the cops, and the police rescued the girl and took her to hospital. The child has since had a check-up. Police revealed that her physical injuries were not so serious but she is receiving psychological counselling to help her recover from the trauma.

Local authorities in Guangyuan City’s Jiange County, in south-western China Sichuan Province, have since arrested the dad. The mum is expected to be given custody of the girl while investigations continue into the dad’s actions, which could see him charged with child abuse and jailed for over a year on top of having his parental rights revoked.
