A serving lawmaker representing Akinyele/ Lagelu federal
constituency, Hon. Temitope Olatoye has been shot by some suspected
political thugs.DAILY POST gathered that Olatoye who lost the National Assembly
election bid to return to the Senate two weeks ago had voted at his
Alape village in Ward 13 Lagelu local government area before he was
shot.
Though, there are reports that the lawmaker is dead, but efforts made by DAILY POST to confirm if he was dead proved abortive.
A close source who informed DAILY POST told our correspondent that Olatoye who won the APC ticket to return to the House of Representatives in 2015 was shot in the eyes.
The source who told DAILY POST that the lawmaker had died said he has was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), immediately he was shot.
Olatoye had last year dumped the ruling APC and joined the Action Democratic Party (ADP) where he ran in the election held on Saturday 23rd February. He later lost to Senator Teslim Folarin of APC.
However, all efforts made by DAILY POST to get reactions of the
Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Public Relations Officer of
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olugbenga Fadeyi and
Olusegun Oluwole respectively proved abortive as at the time of filing
this report.
Fadeyi, when called, said he will call DAILY POST back when he is furnished with the details of the incident.
Oluwole told journalists that he has been out of the command but will also furnish journalists with the detailed information about the incident.
