Wife of Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, Feyisetan, says that this is the year all her husband's enemies will be exposed. Speaking at an annual church thanksgiving in the state over the weekend, Mrs Fayose said all those who pretend to be close to her husband but are secretly working against him will be exposed this year. She asked residents of the state not to listen to evil prophecies about her husband.
"Every enemy pretending as friends, close to the government of Ayo Fayose and working against the government , the Lord will expose them with shame this year. Enough is enough. Don’t listen to whatever prophecies you are hearing from anyone. Anybody can say whatever they feel, but God has given all the power to turn every negative utterances to your favour. Confess positive things about Ekiti and it shall be so, no matter what any one says. God has assured me through Isaiah 41:13, saying ‘Fear not’, there are 365 ‘fear nots’ in the Bible, one for each day in a year. God continued saying: for I the lord thy God will hold thy right hand , saying unto thee, fear not I’ll help thee” The Lord said He will help us and we should fear not. I pray the Lord will give us the grace and enablement to hold these words and confess them daily.”she said

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) today January 3, 2017 arraigned one Sule Yusuf Saulawa, a permanent secretary formally attached to the office of the Deputy Governor of Katsina State before Honourable Justice Sanusi Tukur of the Katsina High Court on a one count charge of Obtaining by False Pretense contrary to section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.

The accused person who is a permanent secretary in Katsina but currently without portfolio allegedly obtained the sum of N2,500,000 ( Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only) while he was attached to the office of the Deputy Governor of Katsina State from the complainant under the pretext that the then Deputy Governor's office would award the complainant a contract for the supply of fertilizer to all the Local Government areas in Katsina State.

Saulawa obtained the money under the guise that it is for the purchase of bidding documents. It was further alleged that after obtaining the money from the complainant, the accused person cut contact with the complainant.

Investigation into the alleged fraud by the EFCC revealed through one Kabiru Dan-Asali who disclosed in his statement that he was present at the time the complainant, Musa Baba gave one Nasiru who is a boy to the complainant, the sum of N2,500,000 ( Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only) on behalf of the accused person. The accused person also confirmed this in his voluntary statement he made to the EFCC.
Despite all this, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him in court.

In view of his plea, prosecution counsel, Sa'ad Hanafi Sa'ad requested the court for trial date and also asked that the accused person be remanded in prison custody. However, cousel representing the accused person Bashir Mohammed, moved a bail application praying the court to admit his client to bail pending the determination of the case.

Hanafi objected the bail application on ground that the accused person if granted bail, would likely jump bail because he had once dishonored the administrative bail granted to him by the EFCC. He added that instead of admitting the accused person to bail, the court shall order for a speedy trial of the matter.

The charge read that "You Sule Yusuf Saulawa while being the permanent secretary with the office of the Deputy Governor, Katsina State, sometimes in 2015 in Katsina, within the Judicial Division of the High Court of Katsina State with intent to defraud falsely obtained from one Alhaji Musa Baba, the Chairman of Many Agro Allied and Chemical Company Nigeria Limited and Diamond Fertilizer Nigeria Limited the sum of N2,500,000 (Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only) by falsely representing that the Office of the Deputy Governor of Katsina State would award him contract for the supply of fertilizer to all the Local Government areas in the state and asked him to purchase a bidding documents which would be given to him as soon as he writes a proposal offering best price to the State Government which he did, but which you knew all to be false and you thereby committed an offense contrary to section 1 (1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under section 1(3) of the same Act".

Justice Tukur remanded the accused person in prison custody and adjourned the matter to January 6, 2017 for ruling on bail application and commencement of trial.

A 34-year-old spare parts dealer has been arrested by anti-narcotics agents with 9.150kg of cocaine, which were concealed in the soles of foot wears being imported into the country.

The arrest of the Enugu State-born man, identified as Okolo Emenike, was made at the weekend, during the inward screening of passengers on a Turkish airline flight from Brazil, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Commander at the Abuja Airport, Hamisu Lawan, explained that the discovery of the drugs, with an estimated value of about a Billion Naira, was the last arrest made in year 2016.

Lawan said: “The discovery was made in a shipment of shoes during inward screening of passengers on a Turkish airline flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil. The cocaine was industrially concealed in the soles of new foot wears.”

His story
During interrogation, Okolo, a father of one, disclosed that he was offered N1million to smuggle the drugs into Nigeria. He explained that he was forced to leave the shores of Nigeria for Brazil in search of greener pastures, when his business was experiencing a down turn, owing to recession.

However, on reaching Brazil, Okolo said, “things became worse for me as I could not get a job. I had no money to sustain myself while my work permit was being processed.

“I was equally confronted with the fear of deportation. This made me desperate for quick wealth. In the process, I met my childhood friend, who offered me N1million to traffic cocaine to Nigeria.

“He also paid for my ticket and gave me three bags of shoes containing the cocaine. But on arrival at the Abuja airport, the cocaine was detected and I was arrested. I had wanted to invest money offered to me in my business that failed due to recession.”

NDLEA boss said this year will be even hotter for people who are living large and destroying other people's lives with illicit drugs.

Briefing journalists on the incident at Agugu Police Station, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Adekunle Ajisebutu, said that the eight-man robbery gang invaded residences in some areas of the capital city and dispossessed the occupants of their valuables.
"At about 2.30a.m. on Friday, December 30, a notorious gang of dare-devil armed robbers numbering about eight invaded Ogbere Keyinsi, Itamerin and other areas of Ibadan for robbery operations, during which a police sergeant was killed. The same gang also shot a private security guard, later identified simply as Damilare. He is currently in the hospital as he was critically injured." Ajisebutu said.
"The police responded to a distress call and engaged the armed robbers. In the course of an exchange of fire, two members of the criminal gang were shot and fatally injured. They died shortly afterwards. Items recovered from them include two locally-made pistols, three cutlasses, some cartridges, iron cutter and criminal charms."

The PPRO also said that one of the suspects revealed his name as Tunde Ahmed, aged 28, before he gave up the ghost.
"The Commissioner of Police, CP Sam Adegbuyi expresses his appreciation to members of the public for the wonderful cooperation they have given this command through the release of useful information. "The armed robbers came my parents’ apartment at Gongosi area of Itamerin Community, Ibadan at almost 3a.m today (Friday). They cut the burglary proof and entered through the window. They knocked at the window of mother’s room where I slept. They asked us to open the door, announcing themselves as armed robbers who came to visit us. They warned us not to make noise.
"My mother and I woke my dad and my brother up and then opened the door for them. Three of them came in and each of them had a gun and a cutlass. They told us: “Awa gbowo odun wa ni o” (We are here to collect cash gift for the season). We told them we didn’t have money and they threatened to kill my younger brother and rape me.
"Because of the threat, my brother brought out the N30,000 I helped him to withdraw the previous day and gave them. My father gave them N5,000 and they took my mummy’s purse and emptied it of the cash therein. They also took my phone and my friend’s that we were charging. They left and went to the next building."
The PPRO assured members of the public of safety, while urging them to continue to give information that would help the police in arresting criminals within the society. He added that proper security arrangements such as intensive stop-and-search and aggressive vehicle patrol had been put in place, while operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) and Police Mobile Force (PMF) would be massively deployed to curb the activities of the hoodlums, in addition to the conventional policemen already on ground at Divisions and Area Commands.

Omg! An American survivor Jake Raak played dead after getting shot by the gunman ...photo

An American man, Jake Raak was one of the guests at the Reina nightclub early on New Year's Day where 39 people were killed and around 60 others were injured. Raak who was shot during the Istanbul nightclub rampage said that he survived the ordeal by playing dead, remaining silent and motionless even after the gunman shot him.

The 35-year-old from Greenville, Delaware, said that as the gunman moved through the club spraying bullets, he targeted people who were lying on the floor.
"When he shot me I didn't move, I just let him shoot me," he said. "I was shot when I was already on the ground. He was shooting people that he had already shot."  "You just have to stay as calm as you can," he said. "I took a bullet."
Raak was shot in the hip and the bullet traveled to his knee. He added that he didn't move or make a sound because he didn't want the gunman to know he was still alive.

The gunman fired about 120 rounds during his rampage in and around the nightclub at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning and lasted less than 10 minutes.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the shooting on Monday, identifying the attacker as "a heroic soldier of the caliphate." It said the attack had been carried out "and in response to a call" from its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, although it did not say whether it directed or merely inspired the perpetrator.

Ugandan Police disrupts wedding of a pregnant 14 year old girl, arrest her parents and groom

Police in in Uganda recently stopped a wedding involving a supposed 14-year-old girl. According to local media reports, the officers stormed a wedding ceremony and foiled the marriage of the teen to a 22-year-old man.

The girl who's a secondary school dropout, is currently four months pregnant. Her parents Abdu Kalimu Ngobi (pictured left) and Faridah Kagoya are said to have agreed to marry off their daughter to the man, Talyaka Swaliki (pictured right) after getting Shs 200, 000 and a goat as bride price. Eyewitnesses claim that the Police arrived after the traditional wedding ceremony was over. The groom was expected to take the bride home but police stormed the place just as they were about to leave. Relatives and guests reportedly scampered for safety to avoid being arrested.

Interestingly, the bride denied she was underage and claimed to be 18-year-old. She also accused police at the station for disrupting her wedding, saying; “I am not young and I don’t know why police disrupted our function. I love my husband and. I asked my parents’ permission to get married.”

The girl’s parents also insisted that the daughter was 18 years and had accepted to marry her off at her own request. “She dropped out of school and told us that she wanted to get married to the man who was responsible for her pregnancy and as a Muslim, I had no objection,”  her father, Mr Ngobi said.

The groom also said he had been in relationship with the supposed underage girl for two years.
“Her parents asked for a bride price of Shs 200,000, a goat and two gomesi which I paid. They didn’t tell me that she was young,” said the groom.
Although a group of residents later stormed the Police Station demanding for the suspects to be released, the Police have confirmed that the parents are to be charged with marrying off an underage girl while the groom is to be charged with defilement.
