Motorists Now Being Jailed In Lagos For Buying In Traffic

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps Agency (LASECORPS) have arrested six motorists at the Ikeja Along end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway for allegedly buying goods in the traffic.

The offenders’ vehicles, a Honda Accent, Hiace, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Sienna, taxi cab and commercial bus, were also impounded by the agency.

The Punch learnt that four passengers and nine hawkers were also apprehended during the operation, which was carried out on Thursday.

They were accused of breaching the environmental law and brought before a magistrate, Mr. Olayiwola Ogundare of the Ogba Magistrate’s Court, who sentenced them to three months’ imprisonment each.

Ogundare, however, gave the accused an option of N10,000 fine each, adding that each of the motorists should pay additional N20,000 fine into the state coffers.

The Head of Public Affairs Unit for LASECORPS, Rahmat Alabi, said the arrest was in line with the Environmental Sanitation Law, 2015.

She said the Corps Marshal of the agency, CSP Bola Jimoh (retd.), stated that LASECORPS was determined to fight the menace of highway hawking.

“The corps marshal believes that the enforcement of the Environmental Sanitation Law, 2015 that makes both buyers and sellers liable, will send the expected signal and halt the prevalence of the illegal highway hawking and street trading in the metropolis. If there are no buyers, there will be no sellers,” she said.

Doggy style is recommendable but anal sex is a criminal offence – says Ghanaian Lawyer

A Ghanaian lawyer identified as Maurice Ampaw says that it's ok for partners to indulge in 'doggy' style during sex but says anal sex is a criminal offence.

According to the legal practitioner, no sex position is illegal apart from anal sex and any woman who allows a man to have sex with her through the anus must be punished.
Speaking on Ladies Talk on Abusua FM, he said its wrong for any man to deliberately force their way into the anus of thier partner during sex.
‘No sex position is illegal under the laws of the country except when the penis enters the anus of a woman during sexual intercourse. Partners can be creative by even engaging in karate styles during love making and nobody will deal with them. Doggy style is recommendable, but a doggy style which will mistakenly turn into anal sex is criminal. Some of the men deliberately attempt to enter the women through their anuses and it is wrong,’ he said.
Maurice also advised people to desist from anal sex.
‘People should position themselves well when they want to go the doggy way, in order not to offend the law,’ he urged.

Omg! See how a father slits 13-year-old daughter's throat after argument about her spending too much time on social media

A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Phatthalung, Thailand for inflicting serious injuries on his 13-year-old daughter after arguing with her over the amount of time she spent on Facebook and other social media platform.

The suspect identified as Joi, slit her throat on Sunday morning,  April 9th, and then locked her in a rented house in Phetchaburi's Muang district.

He was arrested at a checkpoint in Prachuap Khiri Khan's Thap Sakae district on Sunday night while trying to flee with his youngest daughter.

Joi told police he attacked the girl out of rage after they argued about her spending too much time on Facebook and Line.

His wife, 44, corroborated that version of events. She said her husband did not like the girl spending a lot of time on social media for fear it would impact negatively on her school work. She, however, denied the suggestion the attack was the result of sexual abuse.

The wife said her husband had a violent temper and had hit the girl before over her social media use. She claimed Joi had previously threatened to kill all the family members as he was jealous and paranoid that she would return to her former lover.

She said her daughter is recovering in hospital under close medical supervision.

Police said the husband was wanted under a court-issued arrest warrant in relation to a murder case in Trang's Muang district on August 14, 2007.

Lobatan! Patience Jonathan Stopped From Withdrawing Money From $5.9m Account

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has barred Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, from withdrawing money from a $5.9m account with Skye Bank, which was ordered to be unfrozen by a court last week.

This is just as the EFCC has begun fresh move to ensure that a separate $15m, which was traced to Patience, is permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

It was learnt, on Monday, that Mrs. Jonathan was barred from operating the $5m account after a Federal High Court, sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, ordered that the restriction on the account be lifted.

EFCC was able to obtain a stay of execution, a court order obtained for the purpose of suspending the execution of another court judgment.

A source told Punch that, “Shortly after the judge ordered that the account be unfrozen, the EFCC quickly obtained a stay of execution in order to prevent her from having access to the money.

“The EFCC communicated with the relevant authorities at Skye Bank that it was important that she wasn’t allowed to withdraw the money or else, the whole purpose of the freezing would have been defeated.”

In an interview with Punch yesterday, Mrs. Jonathan’s lawyer, Adedipe, admitted that the bank had not allowed his client to withdraw money from the account, but disagreed with the notion that the account had been frozen again.

He explained that Skye Bank, rather than comply with the court’s order unfreezing the accounts, was banking on the fact that the EFCC had gone on appeal to challenge the unfreezing of the account and had also filed a stay of execution.

Recall that the EFCC had, in June last year, arrested four domestic servants, including a driver and a houseboy, who allegedly operated bank accounts belonging to Patience.

I May Be Dead Before 2019... Pope Francis shocks the world

Pope Francis has voiced his concerns that he may not be alive up till 2019. Speaking on Saturday at a vigil service to rally enthusiasm for the Catholic Church’s World Youth Day, the Pope urged young people to lead the church’s future.

As reported by AP, the 80-year-old Pope referred to his own mortality twice in the span of a few minutes at the vigil...

“I don’t know if it will be me, but the Pope will be in Panama!” he told the crowd gathered at the St. Mary Major basilica.

A few minutes earlier, he drew gasps from the pews when he teased: “At my age, we (old people) are about to pass away.”

Sensing their pained reaction, he added: “Who guarantees life? No one. At your age, you have the future ahead of you.”

The Pope is known for his casual, self-deprecating remarks and has said repeatedly he didn’t expect to be Pope for very long.

“The future is in your hands,” he told the youths.

Donald Trump To Sell Attack Plane To Nigeria

The United State is said to be ready to sell high-tech aircraft to Nigeria for its campaign against Boko Haram Islamic extremists.

The Congress according to thewillnigeria.com is expected to receive formal notification setting in motion a deal with Nigeria which the Obama administration had planned to approve at the very end of Barack Obama’s presidency.

The arrangement will call for Nigeria to purchase up to 12 Embraer A-29 Super Tucano aircraft with sophisticated targeting gear for nearly $600 million, one of the officials said.

The officials were not authorized to discuss the terms of the sale publicly and requested anonymity to speak about internal diplomatic conversations.

Though President Donald Trump has made clear his intention to approve the sale of the aircraft, the National Security Council is still working on the issue.

Military sales to several other countries are also expected to be approved but are caught up in an ongoing White House review.

Nigeria has been trying to buy the aircraft since 2015.

Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, said last week that he supported the A-29 deal to Nigeria as well as the sale of U.S.-made fighter jets to Bahrain that had been stripped of human rights caveats imposed by the Obama administration. Under Obama, the U.S. said Bahrain failed to make promised political and human rights reforms after its Sunni-ruled government crushed Arab Spring protests five years ago.

“We need to deal with human rights issues, but not on weapons sales,” Corker said.

Update! FRSC Boss Condemns Cutting Of Female Officials Hair

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi, has condemned some photographs trending on the social media concerning the cutting-off of the hair of some female FRSC officials.

The photos, which started trending late Monday evening, show a man identified as the sector commander of the Rivers State Command of the FRSC, Andrew A. Kumapayi, using a pair of scissors to cut up the hair of some female officials.

The incident reportedly happened during the morning earlier in the day parade when Kumapayi went round to inspect his officers and men.

He reportedly inspected their fingernails and hair, among other things.

The victims were lined up for the unusual treatment.

FRSC spokesman, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, said the agency was already aware of the incident and that the corps marshal had already ordered an investigation into the issue.

Kazeem said since it was still a developing story, he would not comment further until the investigation ordered by the corps marshal is completed.

Shocking! Photo of two pastors arrested for sex trafficking of children

The FBI has arrested two pastors on charges of sex trafficking of children in Toledo, Ohio.

Cordell Jenkins, 46, and Anthony Haynes, 37, were taken into custody by FBI agents on Friday morning, April 7th.

Jenkins is the pastor of Abundant Life Ministries in Toledo. Haynes rented a space at the University Bible Fellowship as the pastor of Greater Life Christian Center until 2016.
Federal documents accuse the men of recruiting, enticing and transporting people they knew were under 18 to engage in sex acts for pay. An agent’s criminal complaint says the alleged activity started three years ago with a girl who was then 14.

The affidavit says Haynes and a woman on multiple occasions engaged in sex acts with the victim at local hotels. Haynes is accused of paying her money to keep the encounters to herself. Prosecutors also said Haynes introduced the teenager to others who paid the girl for sex.

Jenkins is allegedly one of those adults. Prosecutors said he had sex with the girl at a Red Roof Inn in Toledo and in his office in a nearby church.

A U.S. magistrate judge Friday ordered Jenkins and Haynes held without bond until an April 13 hearing.

Jenkins shook his head “no” as charges were read and indicated he will hire an attorney. Haynes told the magistrate he needed a court-appointed attorney until he “made some phone calls.”
"We have charged two individuals, but not with any affiliation with the church," said FBI spokesperson Vicki Anderson.
Ms Anderson said FBI received information a few weeks ago regarding allegations of the sexual misconduct involving minors and began an investigation. The crimes are alleged to have occurred over a few years, she added.

Full statement released by FBI:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cleveland Division, Toledo Resident Agency, and the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Ohio, announce the arrest of Cordell Jenkins, age 46, and Anthony Haynes, age 37, pursuant to a federal complaint and arrest warrant for sex trafficking of children.

Agents placed Jenkins and Haynes into custody early this morning at their residences in Toledo without incident. Additional law enforcement activity occurred today in regards to this ongoing investigation.

Jenkins and Haynes are accused of knowingly recruiting, enticing, harboring, transporting, providing or obtaining a person(s) that the defendants knew was less than eighteen years old to engage in commercial sex acts. In addition to the above, Haynes is also being charged with Obstruction of Justice and Jenkins is being charged with sexual exploitation of children. Both men will have their initial appearance in U.S. District Court later today.

A complaint is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The defendants are entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

This investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Northwest Ohio Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Task Force is comprised of members of the FBI, Toledo Police Department, Perrysburg Township Police Department, Lima Police Department, Oregon Police Department, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Lucas County Sheriff's Office.

Shocking! Whistleblower leads EFCC to N250m cash discovered at Balogun market in Lagos

A tip received from a whistle blower today has led operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to intercept huge sums of money in various currencies at the popular Balogun market in Lagos. The money which totaled about N250 million cash, include €547,730, £21,090 and N5,648,500.

A whistle blower gave a tip to the EFCC informing them that N250 million cash was being moved somewhere within the market to be converted into foreign currencies by unnamed persons.

Operatives responded immediately and were able to locate the store where the money was stored in a Bureau de Change, BDC, office in Balogun market. However, by the time they got there, some of the Naira had already been converted to Euro and Pounds sterling.
The two BDC operators discovered in possession of the monies claimed the money was sent to them by their boss from a Northern state in Nigeria.

EFCC says the two operators are cooperative and helping the Commission in its investigation.
