Nigerians living with disabilities lament neglect, ill-treatment



Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...THE Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cedar Seed Foundation (CSF), Mrs. Lois Auta, has lamented that people living with disabilities in Nigeria are  being maltreated, rated as second class citizens and subjected to unfriendly behaviour in the country.Auta, who is also an advocate for disabled people’s right in Nigeria, stated this while on a courtesy visit to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, in his office in Abuja.
She said if given the opportunity, those living with disabilities in  Nigeria had the capacity to contribute their quota to the development of the country, saying there was ability in disability.

She lamented that they did not  have inclusive education, health, technology, as well as transport and mobility.
Auta, said: “We have right to health, right to movement, right to transport, right to education, right to employment, right to technology and any other thing you can mention. Persons with disabilities have the experiences, they have the potentials, they have the ability and the gift but lack facilities to be more comfortable.
