This security guard is arrested for molesting his employer's 10 yr old daughter...photo

The Lagos Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old security guard, Ossai Sylvester, for allegedly s*xually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in the Victoria Island area of the state.

Sylvester, who was employed to guard a private apartment on Teslim Elias Close, was arrested on Monday by the Victoria Island Police Division for allegedly sucking the bre*st of the victim, who is also his employer’s daughter.

A police source said that the suspect also inserted his finger into the private parts of the 10-year-old, before the employer caught him.

He told Punch that, “The incident happened at about 11.30pm on Saturday. The guard allegedly lured the girl to a secluded spot in the house and sucked her bre*st. He also dipped his left finger into her private parts. He has confessed to the crime.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed Sylvester’s arrest.

She said, “The matter was reported and the suspect has been arrested. The victim has been taken for a medical examination. The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, has directed that the case be transferred to the gender unit at the state command headquarters for further investigation.”

Wow! Boko Haram is ready for peace, to release the Chibok girls...

Hajiya Aisha Wakil, believed to be close to the Boko Haram leadership, has revealed that the group is now ready for talks with the Federal Government on the fate of the missing Chibok girls.

She said that she had been on the neck of the Boko Haram leaders, who according to her offered to honour her to dialogue with the government and release the girls and other captives.

Hajiya Aisha, who spoke with The Nation on the phone, said she expected the Boko Haram leaders to come out and discuss with the government now. Her words:

"Since I came back, I have been on their neck. They have now agreed to come out and discuss with the government and bring back the girls.

“I am for the Chibok girls and all the captives. They are ready for peace. This is what they told me.”

Hajiya Aisha was not forthcoming on the imminent release of the girls, whose abduction sparked a global outrage, she said: “I think they might post some information on YouTube within 24 hours.”

It would be recalled that the Army had on August 14 declared Hajiya Aisha and two others wanted for interrogation in line with the Terrorism Prevention Act 2011 (as amended).

Aisha has maintained her innocence, claiming she is not a shady personality, but ready to help.

Doctors remove 'turtle shell' mole on 10-year-old girl's back..photos

Doctors at Ho Chi Minh City’s Children’s Hospital, Vietnam has successfully removed the turtle-shell-like mole from the back of a 10-year old girl after a 3-hour surgery on Monday, August 29.

The hospital’s vice director, Dao Trung Hieu, said the girl, Tran Thi Ngoc Tham of Soc Trang province, who suffers from congenital melanocytic nevus has recovered after the surgery.

He said the mole weighs 1.05 kg and measures 22 cm in diameter. After its removal, doctors covered the area with skin grafted from the girl’s thigh. Six doctors and five medical workers were involved in the surgery.

Tham’s mother, Thach Thi Da Ni, 34, said she was born with the birthmark measuring the size of “a mandarin orange”, and it has been growing over the years.

Tham quit school after being repeatedly teased by others as the “turtle-shell girl” but Ni has no money for her treatment, she said.

The Gombe State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency has expressed concern over the use of illicit drugs among children under 15 years.

The state commander of the agency, Aliyu Adole, who spoke on Monday, said the trend was “worsening every day.” He said, “They (children) use syringe and needles to inject illicit substance to their veins.

“The substances embolden them to carry out all sorts of vices, unprotected sex inclusive,” he said, adding that the command had arrested many children while in the act.

“We took some of the children to Gombe State Agency for the Control of AIDS and some of them tested positive to the virus.”

Mr. Adole said some of the children have “scary and unpleasant looks” due to the adverse reactions of the drugs.

“We have tried to counsel them; we have tried to let them know the repercussions of taking illicit substance, but they do not to listen to us,” he said.

The commander appealed to parents to monitor the behaviour of their children, stressing that they (parents) have special role to play in assisting them to stay off drugs.

The Child Protection Network, an NGO in Gombe, had identified increase in the consumption of illicit drugs among children as one of the major challenge the network was tackling.

The CPN Adviser, Yaya Hammari, recently called on parents to always observe the behavioural pattern of their children and report any sudden and unexplained change.

A pastor, Timothy Ngwu, was on Monday docked at an Enugu North Magistrates’ Court for allegedly marrying another man’s wife and the woman's daughter. Strangely, there is also a third woman.

The pastor’s wife, Veronica Ngwu, was said to have petitioned the court over the development. The victims whom Pastor Ngwu converted to his “wives” were said to be members of his church: Gods’ Favour Ministry, located in Nsukka.

One of the victims, Calista Omeye, however said it was her husband, Fidelis Omeye, who persuaded her to meet the pastor as he wanted her to do the will of God through the pastor...

“My husband was a member of the church and he introduced me to the church, because he said that the pastor had a revelation for me (Calista),” Mrs. Omeye said.

She added that the revelation had to do with the will of God “but he later left the church but I refused to leave the church with him.

“I have 10 children for him and we were all members of the church before he left and I had a baby for the pastor but the baby died after some weeks,” she told the court.

She said it was with her husband’s consent that their daughter was given to the pastor in marriage.

“It is not true that I gave out our daughter in marriage to pastor without the consent of my husband, he was aware of everything,” the mother she.

Pastor Ngwu, who hailed from Ihe-Owerre, Nsukka, was absent from the court as he was said to be on admission at a hospital in Enugu.

The presiding magistrate, R.I. Oruruo, adjourned hearing in the matter to September 26.

At least 54 students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, have been awarded scholarship to study in China.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, announced the scholarship at the send off ceremony of the awardees today.

Ahaneku said the scholarship was part of the exchange between Confucius Institute at Nnamdi Azikiwe University and Chinese Government.

The award was given under the auspices of the Institute to study Chinese programmes in different institutions in that country. Ahaneku said that the Institute would continue to promote cultural and educational exchanges between China and Nigeria, as well as strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the people.

A young man allegedly stabbed his neighbor on the chest on Monday for selling him a phone with a faulty battery.
The sad incident happened at Ibe street, Orji, Imo state at about 3:15pm. The suspect ran away after he noticed that the deceased died instantly.

He was later apprehened and handed over to the police.
