Woman Married To British Man For Almost 30 Years To Be Deported From UK

A woman who has been married to a British man for almost 30 years is being held in a Scottish detention centre and is set to be deported back to her home country.

Irene Clennel, who lives in Ouston, near Chester-le-Street, in County Durham, was detained at a routine appointment at an immigration reporting centre in Middlesbrough last month.

She has been told she will be removed from the UK and sent back to Singapore. But Mrs Clennel, who first came to the UK in 1988, has built a life in England and has a husband, two sons and a baby granddaughter.

The pair have two grown up children and have spent almost 25 years living between the UK and Singapore.

They returned to Singapore for several periods in that times as both her parents were diagnosed with cancer and work commitments.

Mrs Clennel says she has spent over £2,000 on applications to remain in the country as a resident and was granted the right to stay in 2008 however renewal applications have since been refused.

Her husband said: 'It is mental torture, because of the stress. Both of her kids were born here. They are British citizens and she is the biological mother.

'I cannot see any reason why she cannot stay. I have paid more than enough taxes. She has a lot of friends here.'

A Home Office spokesman said: 'All applications for leave to remain in the UK are considered on their individual merits and in line with the immigration rules.' Nawa.

Lobatan! I've Stopped Being A Prostitute; says Female Minister

A former s*x worker who was appointed the Minister of Information has begged her people to forget about her past and focus on the future.
The Zambian Minister of Information, Ms Kampamba Mulenga, has called on Zambians to forget her past records of promiscuity and judge her on her present and future life as she is now a changed person.

According to The Zambian Observer, before her appointment as a Minister in the country, Mulenga was rumoured to be a popular s*x worker.

But speaking in Livingstone last week, she said she was deeply saddened by some Zambians who still refer to her past (of being a prostitute) when describing her.

She reiterated that she is now a changed person as she has left her past lifestyle completely.

Someone told me to bring my madam's child – Housemaid

Hours after a 22-month-old girl, Mayowa Aweda, was abducted by a 14yrs old housemaid at Unity Estate, Idimu, Lagos, men of the Lagos Police Command found the two of them under the Oshodi bridge around 2am.

The housemaid, Christianah, a young girl from Iseyin, Oyo State, who was taken in by the Aweda family and put in school, confessed that she was told by one Matthew to bring the little girl.

According to her, the yet-to-be-identified Matthew took both of them on a motorcycle to Oshodi and instructed them to sleep under the bridge till the following morning.

He told me that we would be moving early the following morning,” the girl told the police.

The little girl’s father, Leo Aweda, told Punch that when policemen from Bolade-Oshodi division saw the two girls under the bridge, Christianah told them that both of them were from the same parents and that they had nowhere to go.

“She told them she did not understand Yoruba whereas she is from Iseyin. The police thought they were taking care of abandoned children,” he said.

Christianah might have had a change of mind while in police custody and admitted that they were from Unity Estate, Egbeda, but when the police took her to locate where she came from, she took the police to two different schools, who denied knowing her.

Aweda said, “She deliberately avoided the school where we put her, which my daughter also attended. It was while the policewoman was following her around for about three hours that some neighbours spotted them.

“When we were notified, we followed them back to the station and that was where she told us that one Matthew took them on a motorcycle from Egbeda to Oshodi.

Some people told us that she might have been hypnotised by people who wanted to abduct our child. When she left home with my daughter, she did not pick any of the things we bought for her except a rechargeable lamp. While we were searching for her, someone spotted her around 9pm somewhere with our girl. The person said she had N500 with her out of which she bought a sausage roll for my daughter.”

Aweda said his family took Christianah in after they needed a housemaid and an acquaintance told them of a girl from a poor family that needed help.

Family had asked the police to release Christianah to her family.

15,000 Youths To Welcome President Buhari From Vacation

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), says it has mobilised no fewer than 15,000 Nigerian youths to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, from vacation.

Malam Gambo Jagindi, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President of NYCN, Murtala Gamji, made the disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Abuja. Jagindi said that time had come for Nigerian youths, who are the future leaders of the country to show love, solidarity and support for the President, who is their current leader.

“ The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has concluded arrangements to mobilise not less than 15,000 of its members to be at Abuja airport on Feb. 6, to welcome President Buhari from vacation. “It is on record that integrity, discipline and honesty are gradually returning to our public life unlike in the past when impunity was the order of the day,’’ the spokesman said.

He berated those spreading rumours of death about the President. He said: “we all know that they do not have the interest of our country at heart and are only wishing to carry on with the looting of our treasury in the absence of our president.’’

Jagindi said that Buhari’s assignment for Nigeria was not yet over, adding that only God could determine who lived or died. He commended the president’s efforts to rid the country of what he termed, “undesirable elements’’ who did not mean well for Nigeria and Nigerians. He urged Buhari to continue with the good work as the youths of Nigeria were solidly behind him.

Nigerian man sentenced to 27 years in prison for scamming hundreds of lonely American women

A Nigerian man who scammed hundreds of lonely U.S. women online was on Thursday, February 2, sentenced to 27 years in federal prison and ordered to repay $1.7 million, by U.S. District Judge David Herndon. Olayinka Ilumsa Sunmola bilked dozens of women in Missouri and Illinois alone, driving some to bankruptcy and at least one to the brink of suicide, prosecutors said.
Sunmola and others would pretend to be members of the U.S. military stationed overseas or businessmen working there, some of whom were widowers with children.
They used pictures of men in uniform they found online, sometimes lifting pictures of dead servicemen from memorial websites.

They wooed their "soul mates" via emails, instant messages, flowers, candy and other gifts. Some of the women bought wedding gowns or began to use the fake last names that Sunmola and the others were using. The scammers then began to concoct emergencies that grew ever larger until their victims' assets were gone, prosecutors said.

One Bond County, Ill. woman bankrupted herself buying electronics and shipping them to Sunmola, re-shipping things he bought using stolen credit card numbers and taking out cash advances on a credit card.

A woman identified in court last year only as Jane Doe No. 6 was a recently divorced single mother when she met Sunmola, who was claiming to be a U.S. Army major. She is also partially disabled and a survivor of an abusive relationship.

Sunmola's victims didn't know that credit cards and checks he sent to them were bogus, and that the electronic items were fraudulently purchased. Sometimes victims would be tricked a second time, when contacted by fake foreign “investigators” who demanded thousands of dollars in customs payments to send back items they claimed to have seized. Sunmola persuaded some victims to send sexually explicit photos or videos, then used them for blackmail. In one case, Sunmola shared the pictures with a victim's relatives even after she paid him, prosecutors said.

While "systematically destroying" the women, Sunmola used their money for lavish parties, two Range Rovers, four properties in South Africa and a $363,000 home in Nigeria, prosecutors said. After two days of a jury trial in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis in March, Sunmola pleaded guilty to eight felonies, including mail fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy, and interstate extortion.

Sunmola was arrested in 2014 as he was preparing to board a British Airlines flight from Heathrow Airport to Johannesburg. The U.S. attorney’s office in Southern Illinois worked with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Secret Service and the Illinois attorney general’s office, which referred the case to prosecutors.
