See another 'miracle' performed by the SA pastor, who made members drink rat poison

A testimony posted on the Facebook page of Grace Living Hope Ministries, South Africa, which is owned by SA pastor who made members drink rat poison (read here), read:
"Prophecy fulfilment'' - Mr Moses Thole testified concerning what the Man of God continuously told him concerning his pregnant wife. Every time during the prayer line, Man of God would tell Mr. Thole that he sees his wife giving birth to a baby boy
but he always responded by saying he didn’t want a baby boy but a girl and all the time Man of God would ask him what kind of a man would want a baby girl. On the 28thof January 2017 his wife gave birth to a baby boy, confirming what the Man of God had said. Mr. Thole encouraged the church by saying all pregnant women should not waste their money going to Doctors for scan because there is a scanner in Grace Living Hope Ministries"

Iran and China respond to Trump's tough talk with massive military drills

Iran and China are two countries that top President Trump's enemy list and they are responding to the United State president's tough talk by carrying out elaborate and provocative military drills.

On Friday, the Trump administration imposed sanctions on 25 Iranian individuals and entities supporting the Revolutionary Guards’ ballistic missile program.

This sanction was triggered by an Iranian ballistic missile test that the US said violated a UN Security council resolution which prohibits the launch of missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons. In the case of China, Trump criticized them for devaluing its currency to hurt U.S. imports and building "a massive military complex in the middle of the South China Sea." This attack on China came after China complained about the recent relations between Trump and Taiwan which China considers threatening.
In response to Trump's sanctions and talks, both countries seem to be tightening their defense and security in case they need to defend themselves. Iran conducted military exercises and rolled out new weapons that its leaders said would help national defense, and China tested a new missile following Trump's Twitter assault on Beijing’s expansion in the South China Sea.

Iran's newest weapons; a guided missile, a grenade launcher, a rifle and a pistol, were displayed by Iran's defense minister, Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqan, and he warned Washington that Iran will act against any hostile action from the United States.
"If the enemy makes a mistake our roaring missiles will hit their targets," Brig. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Aerospace Force, said during massive air defense drills.
Iran also warned that if attacked by Washington, its missiles would target the U.S. 5th Fleet based in Bahrain, American installations in the Indian Ocean and the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.
"These points are all within the range of Iran's missile systems, and they will be razed to the ground if the enemy makes a mistake. And only seven minutes is needed for the Iranian missile to hit Tel Aviv." Mojtaba Zonour, a member of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said.
On their part, China tested a multi-warhead, nuclear-capable missile that has a 600-mile range and can reach targets in Taiwan, Korea and Japan, as well as moving ships at sea. The missile is launched from a mobile pad which makes it hard to find and destroy before launch. The missile’s warhead can adjust its path to strike slow-moving targets and evade anti-missile defenses such as the U.S. Patriot system deployed by Taiwan.
China’s state-controlled media said the U.S. would need to “wage war” to stop China’s access to a series of artificial islands it has built in the South China Sea. The fortified islands are in oil-rich waters that are home to busy shipping lanes and are also claimed by the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan and Brunei.

Update! Details Of The #IStandWithNigeria Protests In Major Cities

The cancellation of anti-government protests planned by 2Face Idibia notwithstanding, hundreds of Nigerians on Monday trooped out to protest the unbearable hardship in the country.

There were protests in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Osogbo, Port Harcourt and Uyo...

There was, however, another protest in Abuja, supporting the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and its achievements.

Operating under the aegis of #IstandwithNigeria Coalition, the Abuja protesters accused Buhari of protecting corrupt people in his government while demanding the removal of the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, for alleged graft.

Members of the coalition, who started their protest from the Unity Fountain, Maitama, marched towards the Presidential Villa.

Singing anti-government songs by the late musician, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, the #IstandwithNigeria coalition insisted on transparency and accountability in the utilisation of bailouts, Federal Government revenue and expenditure among others.

The protesters also demanded the full disclosure on the secret recruitments by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation among others.

At the Aso Rock Junction, armed riot policemen blocked the protesters from accessing the Presidential Villa.

A former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, was one of the anti-government protesters.

Addressing members of the group at the Aso Rock Junction, Odinkalu called on Buhari to “sack the grass-cutter in his cabinet,” a reference to the SGF for his alleged involvement in a N200m contract award for grass-cutting in the North-East.

The youth, mostly dressed in different shades of green and carrying placards and banners with various inscriptions, caused gridlock on the busy road.

Odinkalu, who read a statement, expressed disappointment with the Buhari’s administration, saying it had failed to deliver on its election promises.

He reminded the government of its promise to fix power within six months, adding that 20 months into the administration, there was still darkness in the land, noting that poverty had worsened.

“We want to know how many children of big persons have been hired by the NNPC, CBN, INEC and all the big offices across the country. We want to know how much the grass-cutter stole in order to make our IDP’s go hungry and we don’t want the grass-cutter to hire the President as his lawyer.”

Odinkalu added that the nation deserved to know the condition of the President, insisting that Buhari must address Nigerians on his health status.

He warned that the protesters would return to the streets if the situation in the country did not improve by May 29,

“We give this government notice; by its second anniversary on May 29, 2017, they must show substantive result of the things we have raised. Today, we are here with a yellow card. On May 29, if things are not better, we will come with a red card,” he stated.

Another speaker, Deji Adeyanju, accused the President of protecting corrupt people, stressing that the current administration had committed worse sins than the previous administration.

Nigerians carried different placards, indicating they are not comfortable with the current situation.

Syrian refugee taking Facebook to court over fake news (photo)

Anas Modamani couldn't believe his luck in August 2015 when German chancellor, Angela Merkel made a brief visit to the Berlin shelter where Modamani, a refugee from Syria, happened to be living.

Modamani was able to snap a quick selfie with the German chancellor who has a lot of reservations about refugees. The selfie went viral and was even featured on the front pages of national newspapers and talked about on the nightly news because it captured the reserved German leader in a rare unscripted moment.

But the photo was soon used for negative purposes, hijacked by fake news producers who repeatedly used Modamani's name and likeness in social media posts about terrorism.

"For the first five months, I thought it was a good luck charm," Modamani said. "But now I think it's bad luck."

Modamani is now seeking an injunction in a German court that would require Facebook (FB, Tech30) to stop the selfie from being used in fake news posts.

He is also asking for all existing fake news posts using the image to be deleted, according to his lawyer. The case will be heard starting Monday in Germany.

In a statement, Facebook said: "We are committed to meeting our obligations under German law in relation to content which is shared by people on our platform. We have already quickly disabled access to content that has been accurately reported to us by Modamani's legal representatives, so we do not believe that legal action here is necessary or that it is the most effective way to resolve the situation."

Leaked Emails Tarnish David Beckham

Image result for images of david beckham
David Beckham's squeaky-clean image as a British cultural icon has taken a battering following the leaking of expletive-strewn emails in which he apparently raged about not receiving a knighthood.

The former England football captain is said to have sworn in emails to his PR team after being told he would not be made "Sir David" by Queen Elizabeth II because of concerns about his tax affairs.

A spokesman for the 41-year-old said the emails, released by the Football Leaks website, were "hacked and doctored" to give a "deliberately inaccurate picture".

But there has been a backlash against Beckham from sections of Britain's tabloid media.

Monday's Daily Mail spoke of the "Shame of Saint Becks", with a columnist pronouncing him "a foul-mouthed, determined egotist" who had used charity work as part of an "increasingly desperate" bid for a knighthood.

Reports which emerged Friday said the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star refused to put his own money into his humanitarian 7 Fund and tried to obtain reimbursement from the U.N.

children's agency UNICEF for expenses met by his sponsors.

Outspoken television host Piers Morgan told his 5.47 million Twitter followers the revelations were "sickening" and exposed Beckham as a "fraud".

Beckham has not spoken publicly since the story broke, although he was pictured cradling his five-year-old daughter Harper on the Instagram account of his son, Brooklyn.

Cynics said even that was a crass attempt to show his best, fatherly side at a time of bad headlines.

For a man who takes such care of his public image, it is likely to be a deeply distressing situation.

Beckham has maintained a high profile since retiring from the game in May 2013 following a brief stint with French side Paris Saint-Germain.

He continues to carry out charity work and fronts several advertising campaigns.

He has faced problems finding a stadium deal for the football club he plans to launch in Miami, but Major League Soccer chiefs confirmed recently that the team remains in line to become the league's 24th franchise.

He has managed to shake off previous scandals, both on and off the pitch.

He became a national pariah after his dismissal against Argentina was unfairly blamed for England's elimination from the 1998 World Cup, but fought back to become England captain.

Reports of an extra-marital affair in April 2004 were dismissed and did not tarnish Beckham's image as a loving husband to pop star turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham and father to their four children.

Beckham received an OBE from the queen in 2003, a lower honor than a knighthood.

His wife also received an OBE in the 2017 New Year Honours list despite her label being threatened with closure after failing to file company accounts.

She was criticized in British tabloid newspapers for telling her family she would be receiving the award before the official announcement.

Protests Won’t Solve Nigeria’s Problems – Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has urged protesters to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari, insisting that protests cannot solve the problems of Nigeria.

Tinubu said this on Monday while addressing some anti-government protesters who were led to his Bourdillon, Ikoyi home by Moremi Ojudu, the daughter of the Special Adviser to President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu.

The APC chieftain  who compared economic recession to traffic congestion said traffic congestion can only delay one’s time of arrival but cannot alter one’s course.

The former governor of Lagos State said, “It (recession) is like when you are going through enormous traffic. What we are going through will be resolved.

We are going through a historical phase of a country that is holding a promise for you.

There is a leadership in the land and you have to live with that for now. Protests won’t solve the problem. Will it?”

When the angry protesters asked what would solve the problem, he added, “The issue is re-planning, being responsive, being able to get engaged with you so that you will see the problem that we are facing. That is it.”

Tinubu advised Nigerians to stop complaining about the unfavourable exchange rate.
He said only importers should be affected by the Forex scarcity since Nigerians earn their salary in naira.

The former governor of Lagos State said the Peoples Democratic Party misruled Nigeria for 16 years and it would be unfair to expect Buhari to fix the problems of the nation in less than two years.

Tinubu said, “We are just two years into the administration. To make those changes effective and positive eventually, we have to be patient. The damage of 16 years will go through the system. You cannot get water out of a dry well.

“I am not worried by the exchange rate because your salary should be in naira and you are not an importer. May be that is even teaching us a lesson; to be dependent on our domestic products.

“I understand what your grievances are: Unemployment. We have tackled insecurity, corruption is seriously being attacked.”

Update! FG Reviews Ibori’s Case-File To Amend Charges

The Federal Government is currently reviewing the case-file of convicted former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, Vanguard has learnt.

The exercise which is being conducted by office of the Attorney General of the Federation and the Prof. Itse Sagay-led Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, will involve a reassessment of the 170-count charge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, initially entered against Ibori who returned to the country on Saturday after serving jail term in London.

A source at the Federal Ministry of Justice who pleaded anonymity, told Vanguard that the process was activated even before Ibori’s return.

“The Federal Government through the AGF, PACAC and the EFCC have commenced the process of reviewing the case-file.

I can authoritatively tell you that the review will be holistic and thorough considering all that have taken place so far in the matter.

“There might be fresh angles that could possibly result in amendment of the already existing 170-count charge pending against Ibori.

“The AGF was earlier weighing the option of initiating an extradition process against him but fortunately he returned to the country voluntarily”, the source added.

Meanwhile, neither the AGF, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, nor Chairman of PACAC, Prof Sagay responded to inquiry on the issue as at press time, as calls placed to their telephones lines were not answered. It will be recalled that the Benin Division of the Court of Appeal had on May 15, 2014, cleared the coast for Ibori to face money laundering charges in Nigeria upon completion of his 13-year jail term in London.

A three-man panel of justices of the appellate court led by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, held that the ex- governor still has a case to answer. Ruling of the court came six years after Justice Marcel Awokulehin of the Federal High Court in Asaba, sensationally struck out the entire 170-count charge EFCC earlier slammed against Ibori.

While discharging the accused former governor, Justice Awokulehin, in his judgment, insisted that EFCC failed to establish a prima-facie case against him.

Dissatisfied with the decision, EFCC took the matter before the appellate court where it insisted the trial judge erred in law and occasioned a miscarriage of justice by discharging the accused person despite “an overwhelming proof of evidence tendered in support of the charge”.

Other members of the appeal court panel that not only vacated the verdict of Justice Awokulehin, but also okayed Ibori for fresh trial, were Justices P. M Ekpe and H. A. Barka. EFCC had in its appeal contended that the trial judge looked at the proof of evidence and evaluated same as if the prosecution had called all its witnesses and trial concluded.

It was also its contention that the trial court conducted summary trial in the case rather that trial by indictment or information. Besides, EFCC insisted that the proof of evidence adduced before the court clearly showed that a prima facie case was established against the accused/ respondent and that the trial judge erred when he held that no case was disclosed against the accused/ respondent.

The prosecuting agency argued that the judgment was unwarranted, unreasonable and against the weight of proof of evidence filed in support of the charges.

While upholding the appeal as meritorious, Justice Salauwa resolved all the four issues for determination in favour of the EFCC and directed that the matter be re-assigned to another judge of the Federal High Court for continuation of trial.

Others the appellate court equally okayed for trial were Ibori’s alleged girlfriend, Miss Udoamaka Okoronkwo and one Chinedu Ebie. Ibori was among other allegations, accused of siphoning about N40billion from the state treasury.

He was equally accused of attempting to bribe the first Chairman of the EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu with $15m in 2007 to stop further investigation into money laundering allegations against him.

The Delta State Government under Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan had on October 25, 2013, failed to persuade the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court to grant it ownership of the controversial $15m bribe money.

In a judgment by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, the court, ordered that the money which had been in custody of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, since April 26, 2007, be forfeited to the Federal Government.

The Judge held that Delta state government failed to produce satisfactory evidence establishing that Ibori looted the controversial money from its treasury while in office as Governor between May 1999 to May 2007.

One Chibuike Achigbu who identified himself as an oil magnate, had on August 29, 2012, approached the high court to lay claim to the $15m. In an application he filed through a consortium of lawyers, among whom were three Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SAN, Achigbu, told the court that he gave the money to Dr. Andy Uba, a former aide to the then President, Olusegun Obasanjo, for the purpose of financing Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the 2007 general elections.

Achigbu’s application was however thrown-out by the high court which awarded substantial cost against him.
