Ambode orders prompt arrest of 11-man kidnap gang

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has directed the State Police Command to ensure prompt arrest of the 11-man kidnap gang who struck on Wednesday evening at the Isheri North Estate, GRA of the state, killing three security guards and abducting the estate's resident association secretary, Dayo Adekoya.

A statement issued by the state's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, said Governor Ambode has already directed the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni to move decisively and promptly to arrest the kidnappers.

Governor Ambode, according to the statement, specifically commiserated with the families of the security guards that lost their lives to the unfortunate incident, and assured that government is on top of the situation and working with security agencies to ensure early release of the victim.
“A while ago, the CP of Lagos Command of the Nigerian Police, confirmed that police has commenced investigation as well as put in place necessary rescue operation to ensure the release of the victim. While the State Government commiserates with the families of the three dead estate security guards, it will leave no stone unturned to ensure that lives and property of residents in the State are protected.”Ayorinde said

Police warn citizens about circulating photos and videos on social media...Must Read!!!

The police are advising citizens to stop sharing voice notes, photos and videos of alleged sex offenders, or sex abuse acts. In recent weeks, persons have been circulating voice notes, videos and photos of alleged incidents involving victims of sexual abuse.

Head of the police Communication Unit Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay says if persons get these photos, videos and voice notes, they should alert the police to the information, instead of sharing it on social media.

She says the police are concerned  about the social media circulation, because after checks, police have found some images are photo shopped, for example the face of a missing person is digitally put onto a random image of a body. Another concern is that often times, the images are not related to any incident in Jamaica.

Superintendent Lindsay says the circulation of the photos, videos and voice notes, while well intentioned, is only causing unnecessary public panic. She is reminding citizens that if they are sent videos or photos of persons being molested, they are required under the law to contact the relevant authorities, to include police and Child Development agency.

Superintendent Lindsay adds that if persons share the photos and videos, they are breaching the Cyber Crimes Act. She adds that, as it relates to the circulation of photos and videos of alleged sex offenders, this can jeopardize police investigations, as well as adversely affect the court case against the accused.

Meantime, attorney-at-law, Christain Tavares Finson, says the level of impact of social media circulation on sex offence case varies, and will have to be treated on a case by case basis. He adds that the circulation of images and videos on social media, can impact the admissibility of evidence before the court.

Meet this Indian boy born with 4 legs, 2 penises ...photo

An Indian boy who was born with four legs and two penises has undergone a successful surgery.
Doctors at Bangalore's Narayana Health City described the complexities of the case to local reporters at a news conference today saying the boy was born with polymelia; a rare congenital birth defect that results in extra limbs or organs, which are usually deformed.
"These are problems that happen from time to time irrespective of socio-economic status," said Dr. Sanjay Rao, a senior consultant pediatric surgeon.

The procedure required a team of 20 doctors, nurses and technicians over a period of 5hours to complete the surgery.
"Because the anatomy is not typical, a lot of work had to be done before the operation to clearly define the anatomy, what structures are shared between the parasitic twin and the main baby, the blood vessels need to be identified to control blood loss so there was a lot of pre-operative work to build a road map that would help us during the operation," he said.
It's the fourth case the hospital has dealt with in the past decade including one in 2008 on a baby girl, Lakshmi Tatma, born in the northern state of Bihar with four legs and four arms.

Nigerian lady married to white man "Died"... hubby cremated her without her family's approval

People are advised to pray about their life partner and be sure before going into marriage with a man or woman, no matter how rich he or she is, and the colour of their skin. Be guided!

The family of Mrs. Oluwashola Gaska (nee Adefolalu) has petitioned the Federal Government of Nigeria to unravel the mystery surrounding her death in Poland and the cremation of her corpse by her husband, Mr. Jakub Gaska, without their consent.

The deceased’s elder sister, Mrs. Abimbola Essien-Nelson, at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, alleged that Oluwashola was murdered and her corpse hastily cremated to cover it despite the family’s objection.

In the petition, dated January 29, 2017, and titled, ‘Petition against Mr. Jakub Gaska for the murder, unlawful cremation and burial of Oluwashola Atunrayo Gaska (nee Adefolalu) in Krakow, Poland, on December 28, 2016,’ the family detailed how the late Oluwashola, who studied in Poland, settled in the country and later married Gaska in 2010.

The petition read in part, “The last verbal conversation I had with the deceased took place on December 24, 2016, and she made no complaint about her health. At about 11.28am, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, I received a telephone call from the husband that ‘there had been an accident, Shola had fallen unconscious and had died.’

“The husband did not tell me the nature of the so called accident. I was still conversing with the husband when the telephone was disconnected.

“The husband later called me back on the same day, stating that Oluwashola fell ill on Tuesday, and that he and his sister took her to a hospital (the name of the hospital was not provided). He said she passed away at about 3am on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.”

The petition added that plans were being made to travel to Krakow to give the deceased a befitting burial when her husband informed them that her remains would be cremated as he and Olwashola agreed during a discussion.

It was gathered that the family requested that the husband wait until the arrival of family members in January 2017 to partake in the funeral rites.

“We also made it clear to him that because of the sudden nature of her death, we want to see her corpse. We sent several sets of representatives from the Nigerian community to him in this regard, but he refused to allow anyone access to the corpse. His response was that Oluwashola said only Ambibola and no other person, should see her corpse,” the petition read.

Mr. Gaska reportedly cremated Oluwashola’s remains on January 2, 2017. He also allegedly interred the ashes on January 7, 2017, without officially informing the Adefolalus.

Omg! Semi-decomposed body of Indian actress found hanging from ceiling in her flat

The police has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of 28-year-old film actress Bitasta Saha, whose semi-decomposed body was recovered from her south Kolkata apartment on Wednesday, February 8th.
Bitasta, who was a small-time actress in the Bengali entertainment industry, was found hanging from the ceiling in her flat in the southern part of Kolkata's Kasba area.

The incident came to light after she failed to reply to her mother's repeated phone calls for almost two days. Bitasta, used to reside at the apartment alone and her worried mom then visited the flat to check on her. When Bitasta did not open the door despite several knocks, her mother and neighbours informed police.

Police arrived, broke the door and found the actress's body hanging from the ceiling. The actress was reportedly in a relationship with an income tax officer, who according to the victim's family is said to be married.

What has led the police to suspect foul play is the fact that one of Bitasta's wrists was slit and there were several injury marks on her body too. The police believe that a victim could not slash one's wrist as well as hang oneself at the same time.

"Going by the preliminary signs it seems that she committed suicide. However, we are waiting for the postmortem report. The body appeared to be two-day-old and there was a bit of stench in the room," a police officer said. Police claimed the actress was under severe stress for quite sometime which could be a reason behind the incident.
"We have gone through her Facebook profile and posts, and found quite depressing posts on her wall... In fact at one point she had also talked about putting an end to her life...We are checking everything including her call details," police said.

Native doctor confesses after turning born again - 'I have killed more than 100 people using marine powers'

A Zimbabwean native doctor from Gweru has confessed to killing more than 100 people using marine powers he claimed to have acquired from the underground World. This comes after the 46-year-old Musiyiwa Denhere had repented from his evil ways by joining a local Pentecostal church. But after his repentance things turned worst as the marine spirits which he used to work under are now demanding his three year old son or wife as a compensation.

'I started practicing as a tsikamutanda (native doctor) in 1989. I have been healing people with incurable diseases. I also used to assist some of my clients by killing their enemies. I would kill by lighning, accident, sudden death, BP or any other diseases. I have killed more than 100 people using the powers I got from the marine spirit. Due to my kind of work, six wives left me and that is when I decided that I have had enough of the life of darkness.'
Things have turned for the worst since the day I repented. The marine spirits are haunting me day and night demanding that I sacrifice my son for the bond to be broken. After refusing to sacrifice my family, a thundering voice told me to destroy all the property that I acquired through the marine spirits. I had no option but to obey since the spirits had said that if I fail to comply I will die, he said.
Denhere, who claimed he is being attacked day and night by the spirit, also said the prophet who helped in transforming his life, is not willing to help him fight the battle.
'After being attacked day and night by the spirits, I went back to the prophet who helped me to repent in search of deliverance but he is not willing to help. He keeps telling me that he is busy. I am therefore appealing to all the members of the public especially pastors who can help me deal with this nightmare. Source: State Media.

Kenya to probe Facebook accounts of teachers before employment

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in Kenya has announced that it will probe into the Facebook accounts of its employees to ensure that the social media platform is not misused to cast the teaching profession.
In a statement released through the Director of Teacher Management, Mary Rotich, TSC stated that the law compels teachers not only to behave responsibly at school but also on social media, adding that they would start looking into the conduct of thier employees on all platforms before considering them for promotion.
'The Act gives us the power to monitor the conduct of teachers, as the TSC we are also thinking of starting to monitor what teachers exchange on social media. If you post irresponsible information on social media, such things do not show good conduct,' She added.
According to Kenyans.co, the new practice will also see the commission research on the social media activities of potential employees who undertake interviews at the TSC.
